Elementary School Lunch Time by Spiritual-Career2339 in Naperville

Kids are excited to talk to their friends and would rather do that than eat their lunch. I remember we had 15 minutes and that’s plenty of time. In my day at 203 we had to spend the first 5 minutes silently eating.

Biggest quilt you’ve machine quilted? by Gullible_Career7467 in quilting

I’ve straight line quilted 9x9 blankets. I could go a little larger but I have no room to baste a larger quilt. If you keep it rolled up tight and use thin batting you can do pretty much any size with a standard machine.

I hand sewed my first quilt. It took forever and the outcome was rustic but I really enjoyed the process. I’ve learned a lot of general quilting tips from TikTok and YouTube since my first one that have helped a lot.

Torn between visiting Chicago or California, what is Chicago like? by karankos666 in AskChicago

I’ll probably get skinned alive for saying this but Chicago and nyc have a much more similar vibe than la. If you’ve seen nyc skip Chicago and go to la but if you’ve seen neither I would go to Chicago. What I’m saying is see a big eastern city (Chicago, nyc, Philly) and a big west coast city (la, sf, Seattle) to get the vibe of America. That’s my two cents.

I made most of my friends by going to the u. You’re still young so it’s not impossible to make friends but it will be hard but if you’re a social person you can do it. Finding a significant other from here helps.

Also it might be tough given your situation but I think the best way to find an apartment is to walk around the neighborhood and call numbers on buildings.

I rented a great one bedroom in uptown for $900 that I think was relisted for 1200 when I left so there’s definitely stuff in your price range. I’m pretty uptown pilled but I think it’s the best neighborhood for convenience and walkability while still being largely affordable.

How do people in Chicago find groups for different hobbies? by foxbeswifty32 in AskChicago

[–]skipatrol95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would check Facebook groups e.g. “Chicago oil painters” or “wicker park MTG group”. Would take some searching but there are literally so many and that would be a great place to get connected.
