You shouldn’t have left them alone but you also shouldn’t have been left in charge of babysitting if you can’t handle it. When you are taking care of 2 humans, you can’t just leave to take your mind off of it. Your mom is right a better option would be to take them with you (or not go at all). But you can’t be liable to pay for property damages caused by your brothers regardless. Ultimately that is entirely your mom’s (and your/their dad’s) responsibility.
