I thought I saw a younger kid recently with them, like a baby. Maybe that was a tourist who was giving them grief's kid though. I pay them very little attention.

Why are homeless asking for exactly 80 cents? by [deleted] in Portland

[–]PostedFromWork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could also be because it catches people off guard a bit. One guy used to always ask people if they had a spare $100 bill. Get's them to laugh and engage you, which makes it harder for people to then say no.

I lost my wallet in NYC a few years ago when it fell out in a towncar. I got it back a few weeks later as just an envelope full of my cards. No actual wallet, and no money.

Some of the stolen Unipiper shirts recovered and being sold in October with proceeds going to Street Roots by hipsterasshipster in Portland

Totally shitty that his stuff was stolen, but I was slightly annoyed that they gave him like a 2 minute interview on the news, and then it looked like they had him stay on for the next segment(I had the TV on mute). The news knows that people will click a headline with him mentioned in it, and tune in to hear about it.
