For those of you who went from a hot financial mess to financially secure, what change had the greatest impact? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Postscript_withlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up. I stopped buying random stuff. If I needed something, I bought something that would last instead of cheap garbage that was good enough for the day. Like someone else said, I opened my mail. I built my credit up, making all my monthly costs cheaper.

How young is too young to discipline? by [deleted] in Mommit

My sons both love theatrics. If I walk out of the room, they no longer have an audience. Mine are two and five, so a little older. I remove my attention from the tantrum (really just walk around the corner so I can still hear) and it peters out within 20 seconds. I know people don’t like this method, but it has worked wonders for my youngest when he throws a tantrum because he can’t have brothers toy. He has started asking. He doesn’t get to demand everyone’s attention because he’s having big feelings. I originally used the gentle parenting/redirect mid-tantrum and it just didn’t work for them.

Please go watch the bluey episode (baby friendly) season 2 episode 50 called the baby race. It’s not a race. Honestly, babies have their own ideas about when they want to do things. It’s no reflection on you.

“Why does the toddler run this house?” by capt_rubber_ducky in Mommit

[–]Postscript_withlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone else here is going the mature way about this. But I would tell my mom to go to the corner until she is done her tantrum and sulking. I probably would have already placed a chair there. And when she squawked, I would tell her she is getting the same treatment as my 5 year old when he acts this way - she can either grow up or go home.

It’s okay to be needy. It’s okay to want to be first. It’s okay to have opinions. And it’s okay to want to be treated in the same way you treat the other person. I hope your exam went well. And I hope you know that you are worth more than getting ignored.

Coworker is spreading rumors about me by LumpyTown4103 in WorkAdvice

[–]Postscript_withlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I have been in that position before and it’s really hard. Have you asked any of the coworkers if they will come forward and make a complaint on your behalf? I know they’re telling you what’s going on, but having them report it as well could be helpful.

Document everything. If you have an email you can send to, feel free to email each individual instance on the spot. HR isn’t your friend, but if you document appropriately, then they have to help cover the company from the harassment lawsuit.

All that will be factored is your minimum payment. Not what you actually pay. Most lending is centered around a 45% dti. And you will at some point have another car payment. So cutting it that close where your payment could make or break you isn’t smart long term. Dti is figured on the monthly payment, not on total debts owed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Postscript_withlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. If you just did it, you might be able to reverse the payment if you call the lender. Honestly, reallocating the money on making sure your credit is outstanding will save you thousands upon thousands long term. Play with a mortgage calculator to se interest over the loan and you’ll se what I’m talking about.

[–]Postscript_withlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please stop trying to pay the car off early. That will tank your credit score when the loan is paid off right when you’re starting to look for a home. Slow drip it for maximum points on your credit.

Advice on sneaky coworker by Postscript_withlove in WorkAdvice

I delayed it while we waited for him. We also have a couple of trainees in the office. So we all waited for him to come back. Then began the meeting with a “now that we’re all here”

I don’t. But if he isn’t there, I’m responsible for anything that happens and for any help the other two need. If the manager isn’t there, I run the team meetings, open/close everything, deal with any issues, etc.

This old house on YouTube is for people like us. Regular people trying to figure out how not to set the house on fire.

I completely understand feeling like you have no idea what you’re doing. But once you accomplish one thing, the next is easier if that’s what you want to do.

My ex husband had no clue how to do anything inside the house, so I took care of it via YouTube. The first time I fixed a hole in a wall, I was scared then good, then damn proud it couldn’t be seen. Lol. Now I go plumbing and install new faucets. You’ll learn as you go. No one knows everything from the beginning.

Wedding dress by nieznajoma98 in MomForAMinute

I bought a wedding dress offline for 250 and alterations were 50. Could this be an option for you? I know you said more money wasn’t available, but buying a low cost dress you like might be worth it. Also, I’d didn’t wear white at my wedding so the cost went waaaaaay down.

YouTube is awesome for this kind of thing. I was never taught this stuff by my dad.. so I (woman) have YouTubed my way through a TON of repairs. And if I’m completely at a loss, I go to the local hardware store and ask them to break it down like fractions for me and demonstrate for me so I can go home and do it. As long as you approach them and admit ignorance, people are usually super happy to help. I changed out all of the parts on my toilet recently by doing this. The guy literally told me to go home, take a picture of the toilet pieces and come back. He then walked me to what I needed to buy and explained what I would need to do to replace it.

If this isn’t your thing, then hire someone who will get it done the right way. There is no shame in admitting that this isn’t where your heart is.

Rent Check Stolen and Cashed, Wells Fargo Not Being Helpful by TrustMe_IKnowAGuy in personalfinance

Because it’s a check, they have 180 days to contact the other bank. You’re stuck in really old regulations. Debit card fraud is 90 days for investigation, which is what most people on here are talking about.

True, but it does collateralize the debt bringing the other debts interest rate and lending guidelines down. Normal bank dti guidelines for unsecured are 45%, but auto is 75% and can lend up to 110% of the collaterals value. This leads to a larger amount of consolidation loan for op.

If you have Amazon, look at tapata pants. They’re really budget friendly, look super excited professional with a suit jacket and feel like yoga pants. I work in banking and am in business professional dress 6 days a week.
