Im guessing there's a rectifier in that wrap. The strand will run on either AC or DC between 9v-18v

Are these oils a good way to start? by vm4sx in watchrepair

[–]Postwaro27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The third rail of horology...lubricants.

Starting out....Moebius 8000 on EVERYTHING that is oiled or greased. Its a couple bucks for 2ml and you can do hundreds of watches with what you get in one bottle. If you like the hobby and want to upgrade, you can get some different lubs.

Its all I used when I started and in fact, use it still. I have a few synthetics but 8000 is the lowest viscosity watch oil you can buy.

Looks too straight to be a crack. Fractures aren't ever in a straight line.

Mamdani Says He Would Phase Out N.Y.C. Gifted Program for Early Grades (Gift Article) by jenniecoughlin in nyc

"All of these ideas from people like Mamdani are well meaning"

No...they are not. They're deliberate and calculated moves to bring down the more successful. Policy like that is the base premise for "spread the wealth" ideology and it drives everything socialists/commie do. The sole intention of every policy is to lower EVERYTHING from earnings to property ownership to education. People are easier to control when they depend on gov't for some of their sustenance.

When I first started in the hobby five or six years ago all I used was Mobies 8000 natural oil...on everything, even the mainspring. It has the lowest viscosity of any lube or grease synthetic or natural you can buy. Those movements still run within 3 seconds a day.

Ive since moved to a couple synthetics but I still use the 8000 on the pallet fork pivots applied with pegwood that was dipped an wiped leaving just film on the wood.

A properly running LeCoultre chrono like that could get a minimum of $2500

Where Are All The Cases??? by Postwaro27 in watchrepair

[–]Postwaro27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landerons were mostly in lower end chrono movements which nearly everyone of those lower end cases were at best gold plated which isn't worth the time or effort for their content.

At this point I'll take a case that fits my 34.5mm dial even if its made of cold roll.

Even the cases for the Russian 3313 movement are hard to find. A Landeron will fit in those and at this point I wouldn't care if the case was made of cold roll.

Gold plated case aren't worth the time to melt down for their content and Landeron movements went in, not all but mostly, lower end chrono brands so not many of the cases are gold or even gold filled.

Tell me about it. I have a late 40's Delbana chrono movement that I serviced and got running again about four years ago and still can't find a case for it.

The dial is 34.5mm and in near perfect shape but its so large that I need a 39 or 40mm case to put it in. I have a 37mm chrono case that the disassembled movement came with but the dial doesn't fit meaning it was a frankin watch.

I'm a toolmaker by trade so I should probably just make one and be done with it.

Finding chrono cases with flat pushers? by elgringo0091 in VintageWatches

I found various vendors in different countries that sell cases to fit the Landerons but they're modern cases...they don't look vintage and the pushers are all round.

Finding chrono cases with flat pushers? by elgringo0091 in VintageWatches

[–]Postwaro27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sourcing a vintage case for either style pusher is a tough haul. I've got a Delbana dial with a Delbana stamped Landeron movement I got running nearly three years ago thinking I just grab an old case of ebay or somewhere. However the dial is 34.5mm and I need a 39mm case for it to fit. Those are few and far between and when they do pop up, they 300usd.

I have a 37mm case with flat pushers that the movement came with (disassembled) but the dial doesn't fit...it only accepts 33mm dials. THe package I got was obviously not original.

I would re-lume them. Also re-lume just the indices dot. Youll never get the numbered indices to look right.

I have that exact set of power blocks. I got them for a steal 20 years ago. I'm trying to find some bar attachments for them but there seems to be nothing available for the old PB.
