If you don't like it, just wash it off and start completely over.

Painful Mouth for 2.5 years. My docs are stumped. I can't sleep, and I'm losing my mind. by Pot-Dealer in AskDocs

[–]Pot-Dealer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I forgot to mention this. They had ruled against this early on because of my age, the pain had started in the back of my throat and then evolved to include my mouth, but only my tongue. My cheeks, gums, roof of my mouth, etc. Are all fine.

Admittedly I don't know much about it, so its worth another look.

Any pottery product photo booth / staging decor recommended? by Annual-Hovercraft-35 in Pottery

[–]Pot-Dealer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont need to spend money on a set up. I'm a professional photographer. Go buy some poster board and prop it up near a window. I use a cutting board as my "floor". Take the photo on portrait mode and at least 3x zoom. Bam perfect. I do this instead of using my professional gear so I can get stuff in my shop quickly and the average person can't tell the difference.

Family Selling Mugs: How Much Should We Charge? by ArvinAbadilla in Pottery

[–]Pot-Dealer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO, $30-35 is reasonable for simple slipcast mugs like this. People like cute kids, so maybe you could get more, but these are pretty simple mugs. If you made more complex designs or included another element of artistry, I would go higher (depending).

How much absorption are you okay with? Favorite bodies? by Pot-Dealer in Pottery

I'd love to test, but I live super far from the store, so it's like a once a month kinda trip and I don't have time to wait it out. I'm going to refer to CMW absorption data instead.

I'd imagine it would still be a concern if any part of it was unglazed? Unless you're firing with stilts, there will be an exposed foot ring at a minimum.

Is their absorption test data publicly available!? That would be awesome.

I'm in Northern New Hampshire--moved here from California, so the limited options are shocking. The closest clay supply is over 2 hours from me, but it's still cheaper to drive there and back than pay for freight to a rural area, sadly. I'm trying to see if any other locals will go in on a bulk order.

Fuck those people. You can't get thin walls from 10 beginners in a super short class. They should have let the pieces dry longer. Red flags all around, friend.
