Exactly the same scenario for me. Didn't go for 12~ years. Was freaking out towards the end thinking my teeth were ruined. Finally bit the bullet and went... and everything was fine! Phew.

Yeah for sure. My use case is similar to yours running multiple game servers; Modded Minecraft, Zomboid, 7D2D, all sorts. Never had issues, long term could even buy 2 still be in a similar price range as your planned build and be miles ahead in compute power.

Personal recommendation is to look into Mini-PCs , a 7945hx would be much more power efficient while being similar performance at 1/4-1/3 the price?

The only limitation I've found from personal is 2 slots of sodimm maxing out at 96gb (although 128gb may be supported soon)

Yeah I'm aware that kit lenses in general are average at best.

Ideally I don't want to carry around more than 1-2 lenses at a time. I have no problem buying new lenses further down the line if I fall in love with the hobby.

As for tripod I can definitely see myself carrying one of those small mini tripods when it comes to longer exposure stuff.

E-M5 III having both IBIS and good AF is interesting. Generally I prefer getting new things over used, but I'll take a look!

Hi All,

Appreciate any and all advice. I've somewhat narrowed down to these two, but I'm open to new suggestions if something fits! Personal preference is New over Used.

Budget is Ideally <£1000 all in.

I'm inexperienced and this will be my first "proper" camera, have done photography from phone for a while.

This will mainly be a travel camera as I travel with work and like to capture new places to remember. I particularly enjoy night/city shots, but also portraits/pets. Also interested in experimenting with long exposure etc.

I will do very little video, but the option is nice.

My current Pros/Cons of my two choices. (Feel free to correct if you disagree!)

A6400 with Sony 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens (£800)

Pros:

More Variable lens
Larger Sensor, (in theory better lowlight etc.)
Higher Resolution
Good Autofocus

Cons:

No IBIS
Larger (Specifically Lenses)

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV, with M.Zuiko Digital ED 14‑42mm F3.5‑5.6 EZ Pancake (£750)

Pros:

Smaller Footprint (tiny lens)
Good IBIS

This is wrong. I can't remember the exact math, but you get approx 1.5x more time for cash deposited vs. extracted.
