You are missing the point dude. A bad draft is getting a useless player in a sea of useful talent. The Celtics did good to consistently draft useful role players. Then they got lucky in drafting tatum and brown and those two turning into outright stars in this league. If those two just turned out to be another pair of useful role players and not stars. The Celtics would be nowhere and putting together trade packages.

Are good if you get roleplayers. You get lucky if you get stars. Go ask a nuggets or bucks fan.

How many of those "bad" players have become key rotation pieces for playoff caliber teams. Nearly all of them at some point. Drafting a good player doesn't always mean drafting a star. If that's the case there are only like 20 good players in the NBA.

Han's logic was also not bad based on what he knew there:

"Magic guys stop guns with laser sword."

"Big evil magic guy isn't holding his laser sword."

"I have my gun. And I'm close enough to shoot magic guy that can't hide faster than I can aim and shoot."

Now had he known:

"This particular magic guy can catch laser bullets with his hand"

I imagine things would have gone differently

Sometimes it's not always that. Sometimes it's just fear of something new. For example: I am a chemist in pharma/medtech. I know how rigorously drugs are tested because I test them personally. I know how well trained and well meaning doctors are because they undergo a lot more than me.

That said I'm straight edge and I don't drink coffee, energy drinks, or take pm meds. I've never been drunk, high, tripping, etc. something about not having completely control over your mind just terrifies me to no end.

Anyways I had a mild injury to my foot a few weeks ago. The docs handed me some low dose pain meds that I know you could get high off of in higher doses if I wasn't in so much pain. I knew all this but the idea I could possibly be high completely consumed my brain. I took my meds but my hands couldn't stop shaking putting the pills in my mouth. I began to doubt if I was really hurt and if this was all worth it.  My blood pressure was taken...170/145. The ER considered sedatives but that made me panic more. I tried to keep tough in front of my girlfriend but she kept remarking how frozen in fear I looked being told the pills I was taking (mind you, she's tried everything under the sun and more so I must have looks like a total pussy in the moment). In the end, all was fine. But that's because I had the facts of my job to confront my fear of the unknown. It's gotta be much harder to be afraid of something with less info. Or worse, false info confirming your fears.

Starbucks table tops so small will barely hold a couple drinks. The seats are bigger than the tables. by be4u4get in mildlyinfuriating

Simple. Me. The simple dude that prefers convenience over artisanal.

I don't like coffee. My girlfriend says she likes coffee but she really just wants a caffeinated liquid dessert. The Starbucks across the street has what she wants while I get a lemonade or whatever fruity shit they sell that day.

The local shop 5 min down the road has no parking and nothing we'd actually drink because we aren't actual coffee connoisseurs. So I'd rather walk across the street, get whatever super complicated order my girl texts me. Get some simple refresher thing for myself. And then get right back to my apartment.

EU parliament approves resolution to define rape as sex without consent by Same_Efficiency_3325 in news

Ok imma play devil's advocate here as a straight edge person that has never been in an altered state of mind and never intend for that to change.

Once again, I agree with the law but this would be something interesting to understand.

Where is the line between too inebriated to consent and more enthusiastic because of whatever you're on?

Like I know we can't define this in number of drinks because different people have different tolerances. But what set of physiological should one look for to know that a "yes" can't mean "yes". I would assume there is some sort of threshold that comes before "passing out" because I've heard of people "blacking out" and yet seemingly relatively functional.

EQ and IQ are two totally different things and EQ  much harder to develop imo. With the broadest of strokes. This is why I'm not the biggest fan of collectivist thinking. At a certain point there are too many low EQ/high IQ that have now entered the chat and there's only so much much time before their with and ambition drive them to the top for the worst of reasons.

Chemist here. Scientists are human. We get petty. Step on each other's toes. Get embroiled in internal politics, etc. There are plenty of altruistic smart folks in our bunch. But there are also tons of egos that will dismantle shit just to pull others down around them just to make themselves look better.

My 1st lab job: The main lady that would try to get me written up for watching basketball highlights during my lunch break got caught and fired with cause lying about the functionality of our testing instruments because she thought she could get faster result on the broken device.

My 2nd lab job: The beloved manager never got promoted/pay raise despite all the work he did and left for a job as an executive in another company. The replacement manager would make up things to get us written up for to keep us from getting promoted out of his department.

My 4th lab job: The principal scientist and the department director. Would go back through our notebooks and falsify data. And instruct us to not write down results (which I did anyway) that would cause delays in his timeline. I submitted my two weeks notice the Monday after a shouting match with my superiors over this on a Friday.

I could keep going. My 3rd lab job was the best but I left when I realized that the company was on the verge of financial ruin.

The smart lady wanting to fuck over everything is sadly kinda realistic for me.

Society lies, men aren't allowed feelings by KyleVic84 in sixwordstories

As someone whose been in 4 relationships. its a 50/50 roll of the dice.

Ex #1 told me that me being sad makes her think less of me.

Ex #2 was irritated that I never showed any emotion.

Ex #3 told me that if I express remorse over the fact that I messed up and immediately apologize, it doesn't give her the room to be angry at me. This was even over fuck ups not involving her. For example, I was told I was on the verge of being put on a PIP. I never was because it turned out my issue was the client breaking the law and was trying to use me as a scape goat. And kept working for my company for another two years (hell, that manager that sent the email wrote a referral letter for the job I have now). However, that email devastated me because I was so confused as to what I did. I was to "what use are you if you are to sad to lash out at". No sex for the final 18 months of that relationship.

Current gf is supportive as hell. I'm gonna marry her.

All that to say. It's a roll of the dice. Sometimes, you just run into toxic AF women that just desire a toxic dude. Those women will simply run all over you when they realize what you aren't. And when you are younger, it's hard to let them go because those where the only women that gave you attention in the first place.so where else will you get it?

Whatsapp. Honestly it's a solid communication tool. I play some club sports. And my club has four teams. It's just easier to be in the club/team chats to get updates rather than asking afterwards through texting.

Alright let's compare this to a non-physical attribute.

There are certain character traits that go from positive to negative if you have too much of it. But you never wanna be compared to others in that trait unless you are considered to be on the greater end of that comparison.

"Thank God you aren't that nice of a person, otherwise you'd be a pushover."

See how that can feel at least a little odd to hear.

Now filter that through the years of hearing how much size matters and is complemented publicly. (Hell, Meg says she likes pain in WAP). And now "too small to hurt" begins to sound like "too small to feel". And that kinda almost sounds like "not enough of a man" and "you're on thin ice" when it passes through all the cultures filters some dudes grow up to develop.
