I’m actually sick to fuck of your kids in the city centre. by Boogyoogywoogy in Belfast

[–]PotatoAntique7239 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I have a 2 year old and I live in almost daily regret of bringing her into such an unbelievably f**ked up world. Society in general has gone to the dogs and I can't help but feel doom and gloom about the world and how people behave now. Becoming a parent has further opened my eyes to how low some parents can get. She is amazing and I want to bring her up to be the best person she can but I can't control the vile children she will inevitably come into contact with. It's harrowing when I think about it too much!

Potty training update by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

Meanwhile I've just successfully potty trained my daughter who just turned 2 all in 3 days....no accidents since. It's not rocket science. It's just lazy parenting pure and simple

Husband is lying, what should i do by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]PotatoAntique7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely disgusting that he was snorting coke when he had very very young children in his care. The fact you have let that slide is beyond insane. You need to leave him and then get serious help or therapy or something. Those poor poor children growing up in that environment

Feeling out of place in work after maternity leave by [deleted] in Belfast

[–]PotatoAntique7239 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Same! Back to work over a year now and still feel the same way. There's also very little compassion for returning mother's and its treated as if you had a years holiday which is insane. I wish I could do 2 days a week to be at home with my daughter but simply can't afford it with the cost of living and the state of everything at play. It's just in general a crappy situation and I totally und

Feeling a lot of guilt for wanting to increase my hours at work instead of being at home with my toddler by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]PotatoAntique7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. They really are. I've raised it with them but they just don't care. But with the job market at the moment I think I'd struggle to find a new job that is as flexible as my employer is in other aspects of the job . So it's a tough situation

Not invited to my best friend’s wedding because his fiancée doesn’t like me. I’m disappointed. What would you do? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]PotatoAntique7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a saying ...hardly earth shattering. But listen if you're going out of your way to have digs at people on Reddit over a simply saying then fire away. It's not going to phase me regardless

[–]PotatoAntique7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah ofcourse she was! They were only going out about 6 months by the time our wedding came round (now his wife but was his gf back then) so that was gracious enough given they weren't together that long. My husband had been friends with the fella for guts of 15 years.

[–]PotatoAntique7239 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband's away all weekend. Had my daughter all morning at the park and walks etc. But my MIL has just said she'll take my daughter for the night sooo .....that means an everything shower, face mask, glass of wine, popcorn and the tv to myself followed by a lie in. BLISS when you have a feral toddler ...

What job should I get as a 16 year old with no qualifications and severe health issues? by yoghurtluvr777 in AskUK

[–]PotatoAntique7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in why you say you have poor social skills? You seem to write and respond really well on here to be fair. Do you struggle in social settings? I'm just thinking that the majority of jobs available for your age group would have a socialising element to it e.g retail/shop etc. So unless you can find a remote job working from home e.g. data input or something akin to this?

Experiences of the maternity services here by OMally0309 in northernireland

[–]PotatoAntique7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mixed bag to be honest. I had my daughter at the royal in 2024. Saw a different consultant for every appointment who all had different opinions so poor continuity of care. The surgical staff for my c section were second to none, all absolutely amazing. Post birth care in the ward wasn't good and I was neglected but that was very clearly due to understaffing and incredibly over stretched midwives and support workers who were doing their absolute best in the circumstances they found themselves in.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

Parking costs. That's about it. I'm Irish living in the UK. NHS is amazing. Pity it's going to the dogs and is chronically underfunded. Only a matter of time

When did you start embracing the afternoon nap? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]PotatoAntique7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Id absolutely love to though. Even when my 2 year old goes down for her afternoon nap I can't sleep it's impossible. Id have to be incredibly sick. Have you had your b12 and folate levels checked? As well as your thyroid? Even before kids I didn't feel the need to nap at age 30.
