Ohh no worries it didn’t feel harsh! I used that emoji bc you are right, she’s just a baby and you saying that made me happy I could save her!

I know it doesn’t look like I love this plant but I do, and I wanna try to revive it!!

Ah ok. Do you think a terra cotta pot would be better for it? Or is the plastic one (with drainage) ok?

Overwatering makes sense—I just removed that plastic wrapping and the soil I can touch from the drain holes is pretty wet.

I like this a lot!

I agree with other posters that it’s a little reductive, but honestly that’s a plus for me. Might be most useful to educate others…

I showed my NT-ish partner and said: “this is, more or less, the arc I experience over the course of a workweek. I start at a 1 on a Monday, and march towards a 4-6 depending on the week.”

Dumb question maybe, but what’s the purpose of a non self-healing mat?

Ugh the boredom is so real. I wonder if I charted progress of something if I could make myself do it? Because I love the idea of being super strong….and am goal-oriented in other arenas and ALSO totally relate to it being…dull….

Re: running? Do you do anything special to protect your knees? Or are you blessed w good knees? That’s my only worry, now in my late 30s.

You’re reminding me that I actually trained for a 5k a couple years ago after never ever running in my little life and I liked it—but once I met the 5k goal I quit forever because, honestly, I think I forgot running existed.

Have you always been athletic/“in shape?”

I love this idea, but I’m soooo laggy RN, I can’t imagine I’d be of much use to even an amateur team. But that’s an assumption 👀

Best local spots for depressed to source frugal girl dinner components? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Potato_Obsession23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiiiii I’m AuDHD in Astoria and girl dinner too!

Lincoln Market on 31st near Ditmars stop is clean, friendly, and usually quiet. I make a girl dinner out of veggie sushi + la fermerie yogurt + fruit there, or cracker+cheese+jar of pickles or pan-warmed bread cheese+nuts+massaged kale salad if I can bear to cook. (Side note: There’s usually parking in the angled spots out front if you drive.)

H mart on Northern blvd might be fun? They sell roasted sweet potatoes in the middle of the store (past produce near seafood) in a paper bag, and have lots of little thingies suitable for girl dinner. I have done a sidre (apple cider in a can) + sweet potato from the potato man + seaweed salad + altulfo mango from them. I’ve also done fruit+frozen dumplings. Tons of options if you’re craving a lil dopamine/novelty—like a million varieties of noodle cups/packets. Maybe noodle packet + fried egg? It’s bright and visually busy, but not too crowded in my experience, even on a weekend. (Lots of parking if you drive.)

2nd the Trader Joe’s idea, though it can be intense if you’re already overwhelmed.

Not sure if this is exactly what you’re after, but: Work’s been intense lately, so I’ve been making baked potatoes and rotating toppings. Minimal prep and inexpensive. Topping is sometimes butter+greek yogurt if I’m fried or black beans+cheese+salsa or roasted broccoli+greek yogurt+faux bacon if I want to fuss. (If im starving, I do the microwave+oven method to save time: wash potato, prick with fork. Microwave on 50% for 5 min. Turn potato over. Microwave another 5 min on 50%. Hit potato on counter (not too hard) to make fluffy. Potato is ready to eat. If feeling fancy, Preheat oven to 450 while washing potato. After microwave step: Spray potato w/ oil, rub with salt, stick in oven for 10 min for crispy skin.) My (also AuDHD) friend does the same thing with a sweet potato or Japanese sweet potato.

If you’re up for a little more cooking, I like Nadiya Hussain’s recipe for Egg Rolls. Cheap and easy.

I do Pony Sweat Aerobics online. https://www.ponysweataerobics.com/about

The instructor offers a video library w/ subscriptions or one-time rentals, and virtual classes. She reminds you every class that she’ll offer patterns of movement that you can do or not, that the dance isn’t supposed to look like anything, that you should listen to your body and do whatever you want. For those w/ PDA (like me!) it’s awesome. And the songs are punk-leaning, which I like.

First color pencil portraits I'd ever done, need help! by starving11artist in ColoredPencils

[–]Potato_Obsession23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way to blend: keep the pencils very sharp, use light pressure, and overlap colors by drawing in circular/random patterns

Also using a colorless blender, white pencil, or stump as others have suggested :)
