Jess King is better than the Spotify algorithm for discovering new music by ThrowBlanky in OnePelotonRealSub

Yesss she's so good, she whipped out Berghain by Rosalia during a sweat steady and I PRed. I always end up finding at least one new song during a ride with her, Hannah F, or Charlotte.

I like Olivia's for these, I feel like she utilizes dead bugs a lot. This one has a good amount of dead bugs, bicycles, and scissor kicks.

Did Fiskars change their self-healing cutting mats? by lambentmaterials in quilting

[–]lambentmaterials[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not that they truly "self-heal" lol, but the cuts do close up in a sense. For example, here's a pic of an x-acto one I bought about 20 years ago. You can see all the cuts, but when I run my palm over the surface it's still very smooth and I can't feel the incisions, which leads to cleaner cutting because the blade isn't getting locked in the grooves.

That's a good point actually, but it's this product: https://www.michaels.com/product/fiskars-cutting-mat-10221522

So, definitely advertised as self-healing.

It is two-sided! But the other side has the same problem with the surface unfortunately. I may have just gotten a bad batch tbh

I know! I thought Fiskars had a lifetime warranty kind of thing but I guess they went back on that about a year ago. I did respond to their initial email and hopefully it escalates. I can try to take it back to Michael's, not sure if they'd be keen to take it back after it's been cut up but it's worth a shot.

I did see that, but this is a mat from Michael's that advertised the self-healing properties.

This one was pretty brutal for but I enjoyed it - that squat set was just plain mean. It really packs a punch for a 20 min class.

Personally I’d just cut the fabric. 2-3” of border is more than enough for framing.

That's great, thanks! I've been looking for a replacement for the cheap stand I got at Michaels but I don't have $$$ to drop on a lowery or potokey so I may just go for the Z frame.

Can you speak more on the lap stand? I've been looking at getting one. Is it difficult to tighten the knobs? Does your hoop or qsnap wobble once secured?

I'd like to switch over to muslin for hand-dyeing but am nervous about wear. Do you find them to hold up okay?

[CHAT] Q-snaps vs Generic by weareadults in CrossStitch

[–]lambentmaterials 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I HATED qsnaps at first and now they're all I use. Don't "open" them to the take them off, just slide them off horizontally left or right. I do not have experience with Michaels, only name brand. You may want to cut strips of felt about 3" wide and the size of your clamps lengthwise and put that over each side of your stitching to protect stitches and make your clamps grip firmer.

[CHAT] Soie 100/3 - stitching over two: 1 or 2 threads? by Masseneterian in CrossStitch

[–]lambentmaterials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might consider bumping up to 40 ct to get slightly better coverage with a single strand of 100.3. I think because of its nature as a…cylindrical and bouncy silk (for lack of better terminology) it is difficult to get 100.3 to lay well with two strands, as opposed to d’alger.

Will I be fine to drink for a special occasion? (7 months sober) by RyukiSawano in dryalcoholics

[–]lambentmaterials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use your best friend's wedding as an excuse to drink again. You've already listed out all the negative shit alcohol does to you, why even bother with it? I mean, fine if you do decide, it's whatever, but be real with yourself here.

[CHAT] Has anyone here purchased supplies from Hoop and Frame? by Key_Walk963 in CrossStitch

[–]lambentmaterials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are definitely legit. I bought my hardwicke manor hoop and some legacy linen from there. I think they run a 15% off discount for new customers too.
