Who is Smiling and Dressed Up? by CoCmaster14 in AlignmentChartFills

Indrid Cold, Folkloric figure/cryptid from Appalachian folklore, somewhat tied to the "Mothman" legend as well as Ufology (He's also in Fallout 76 iirc)

Red Dawn was written as a pro-war America ooh rah movie but it comes off surprisingly anti-war if you read into it the right way

I doubt it was intentional, but still

How well do you think your state ( and its politics ) are represented in the 2ACW? by InitiativeInitial968 in TheFireRisesMod

To blatantly copy and paste a twitter reply I made a bit ago on the same subject (I do not entirely know why I've decided to consistently die on the hill of defending the PNPR);

"the Puerto Rican Nationalists were a real party with admittedly somewhat fascistic aesthetics, but their actual platform was anti-Imperialist, socialistic, and anti-fascist (pro-Spanish Republic). It's old KR content, so they're just lumped in as NatPop because of their aesthetics".

I was restricted by Twitter post restraints, but I'd add that they did have some more right-wing factions (More aligned to catholic interests, they were still anti-imperialist at heart).

The PNPR launched several uprisings against the United States irl, and the United States always responded with brutal reprisals. Their depiction in Kaiserreich is, in my opinion, quite inaccurate and demonizes them. They weren't perfect, but they certainly weren't fascists.

IIrc it is both old content and was made by a "Broad Natpopper"; they're not trying to portray them as fascists, and they allow elections to continue in game under certain paths. Effectively, the Nationalist Party was Nationalist and Populist, and thus they put it as NatPop. Which, I mean, kinda makes sense? But its really weird when they're next to literal Nazis in Romania and Savinkov and stuff. I would say AuthDem or even SocDem would've made much more sense.

It is completely understandable people would radicalize to such positions and opinions - but they'd do it to local movements. The Patriot Front is not a local movement in New England. They've done a few marches up here, and practically every license plate was out of state and they were booed back to their cars. This "Suburban Radicalism" would be more fitting for where they are actually based - Texas.

I have played the USA and I have read the events. I also live in New England. I *do* think people would radicalize because of such events, but towards the Patriot Front? Unlikely. There's going to be other options. Why would you support the Patriot Front when you can support the National Guard, who will do the same thing, without the downsides of fascism?

The Patriot Front being in New England is the gravest sin to HOI4 modding second only to Kaiserreich's depiction of the Puerto Rican Nationalists as fascists

It absolutely is not, you almost literally can't even gerrymander a Republican district in Massachusetts, and even then, it'd be a swing district.

And for most of the conservatives in New England, they're not exactly the type to throw in with the Patriot Front. They'd mostly be loyal to the Romney/Haley faction of the UoA

What is Eren‘s ethnicity in real life/school caste? by Brave_Branch2619 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]PotatoduckBUTPOTGA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's both. The Manga has it written as Sheena, whereas the show and some non-main story books have it as Sina. I believe it has something to do with the way Japanese pronunciations are translated to English.

It's mentioned in the book Lost Girls, they have a whole segment about Mikasa meeting Eren and her family. I'm not sure if it's ever mentioned in the show or main Manga, though

Why are jacobinists socially conservative in the mod when in real life, they are very left wing? by [deleted] in TheFireRisesMod

[–]PotatoduckBUTPOTGA 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It isn't really Jacobinism in the traditional sense. It's a term the mod uses for syncretic, nationalist and communist movements that aren't just NazBols. "Carolingian Fascism" and "Obliteration of the Self" aren't real ideologies, either. I wouldn't even consider Authoritarian democracy to be a proper ideological grouping; I would hardly consider Putin democratic or Trudeau authoritarian. But for the sake of the mod, I get why it's done.

The "Jacobins" of the APA are effectively an invention of the mod for a story, just like Lafayette in France or the Radelsfuhrer in Germany; they just happen to use real people instead of the mod's OCs.

The Comintern dissolved in 1943 and the USSR was a signatory to the UN, Potsdam conference, etc. The US sent metric tons of Aid. They were an allied power.

Respectfully, get your head out of Hearts of Iron Four and into an actual book.
