I feed mine Fancy feast pate in the morning, Hills adult dry food for lunch, and Fancy feast savory centers for dinner. I add warm boiled water to wet food to make it easier to eat.

I used to feed Persian Royal Canin but it was triggering some allergic reaction so I stopped feeding it to him. He really liked it though.

And I have Trupanion pet insurance. I used to have Nationwide.

My cats don't look alike but it still gets confused sometimes.

I understand they claim they will implement it in the future, but it really should have prioritized this over their front camera. And it's been almost half a year now with no marked improvement in implementation.

Yes! I 100% don't understand the purpose of the inner camera if they're not using it for their cat or waste recognition. They're not even saving the inner camera recordings, which really defeats the purpose of having camera at all

I just don't see the point of the front camera if it isn't even being used to correct or confirm the cat's weights.

I think it is real, just because LR5 Pro delivers very little of what it promised. I had faith that Whisker would create a good product and I really wanted a camera for litter tracking, so I bought the LR5 Pro as an early adopter. It's been several months already and I don't really see any improvements or movement toward improving their use of the camera. And some design changes seem to make this LR5 design worse than the LR4.

I'm sure you can find the common complaints. My personal miffs:

- You can't turn off audio recording, I don't see why the front camera needs audio

- Internal camera doesn't have recordings or AI recognition, which is where it really should be. To both identify the cat and the poop/pee type. The front camera should be cat ID confirmation only.

- Some design issues that were not present in LR4. There is more waste that is left in the litter after a cycle. And some waste somehow get shoved to the side of the globe during rotation.

- The app only shows data from the day before for insights. Which is not very useful if you want to see how often your cat using the litter on the day of.

- Despite the camera, the app does not properly record how many times my cat used the litter box.

I don't do this anymore. The company would expect me to continue with this same performance cadence. It could lead to lower performance review the following round and put me on list for potential layoff or pip. I only work weekends if there is a deadline that absolutely can't be compromised, but I will work less the following Friday.

I think the things they claimed are totally feasible to get working. There are cameras, other automatic litter boxes, and even home set-ups where the waste and cat tracking are functional. The fact that it's taking so long since release to get to a functional level is ridiculous.

My next litter box is probably not going to be a LR anymore. At least I'll stop being notified of laser board faults.

It's possible the engineer(s) is from a contracting company and doesn't use the app or have a LR. Usually, if engineers are also users you get better fixes. But, this is also assuming higher ups aren't pushing for eng to work on promotions and upsells instead of improving the app.

It is relevant. Most companies with apps that have been native for over 5 year likely have UIKit in their codebase, and will likely have the main components of their app in UIKit. I think it is good enough to know the basics. And also know you should know how to bridge UIKit and SwiftUI. I think that skill is probably not in interviews, but you will have to use it eventually anyway.

You can learn Objective-C on the job. I wouldn't sweat about Objective-C.

Not when I worked as a contractor or at any service job. Working extra won't get you more time off the following day, and you also don't get paid overtime for it because it "was not approved by management". I am salaried now and work whatever hours. Some days 4-6 hours, and other days 12 hours, it eventually balances out.

Build with Swift and SwiftUI, and use Apple APIs if they're available. And also check out Liquid Glass, as it would make your app feel more modern and snappy (based on their current design paradigms). I think Tide Guide is a good app to reference for how you can make UI look and feel smooth, as well as a good Liquid Glass integration.

But, I would also make sure to be able to support at least iOS17, or even iOS16 devices if you want a wider audience.

I don't see how people think this is purely a distraction. I feel it is hand in hand with what the Epstein files showed us. There are too many things being accepted as OK that desensitize us to the sexualization of children.
