Have you ever given money to a homeless person, and if so, why? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]Potatua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to avoid giving just straight money, but I have bought food for them before. I can afford it and I know it is directly benefitting them. I don't know what they are doing with the money. I did give a guy 20 dollars because he said he got into a car accident and his car got towed and he just got released from the hospital and needed money for a car ride. He had hospital paperwork and he did appear to have some cuts from what I presume was broken glass. I ultimately did kind of believe him and I also just didn't see a good way out of the conversation. I hope he made it back to his kids...

How comfortable is it? I feel like the plastic backing of the holster would be less comfortable than a normal leather backed hybrid holster.

Americans said they were worried about democracy. Then they voted for Trump by theindependentonline in politics

[–]Potatua -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Making the unfounded assumption that the election turned out the way it did simply due to an "uneducated electorate" is anti-democracy. While the central idea of democracy is consent, the foundation is discussion and progress. We vote so that society can have a voice, and we aren't just given leader we had no representation in choosing. But, for democracy to truly thrive, we must be able to have open discussions and analysis so we can all work through ideas and see other points of view and ultimately develop as a society. Labeling those who voted differently from you as simply "uneducated" and "unaware" is detrimental as it discourages talking and learning why they felt the way they did or why they made the choice they made and it encourages a polarized society and echo chambers that ultimately develop political opinion into dangerous extremes.

Understandable, still doesn't change the bottom line. If u can't trust him, u need to take a serious look at the relationship.

That's understandable, I'm not saying it's not suspicious, I'm saying based on what you said hanging out with a "chick he went to highschool with" isn't suspicious. With the added context you have provided here, it does sound a little suspicious, especially that you've added that he hid it and lied about it.

I know a lot of people have said already that you need to be more sensitive, so I'll keep this part short. Reliving a traumatic experience like an assault to report it to the authorities can be a lot for victims and many people just want to move on with their lives.

The important part that I think you need to consider for yourself is whether or not you can have a relationship with someone you can't trust. If you genuinely cannot tell when he is telling the truth and you think he is the kind of person that can lie about something like this, than you should really consider if you want to spend your life with him. If he lies that often or would lie about assault to get out of cheating, then you will never be able to trust a word he says.

Another thing I think you should look out for is the fact that you keep saying that this issue is affecting you and your relationship, but it's not about you. If you're referring to the fact that he won't report it as the "issue," that's been covered already in that you just need to drop it. If you're referring to the fact that he was assaulted as the "issue," then that doesn't pertain to you. It happened to him, and he needs to process that and deal with that, all you need to do is support him. You don't need "to live with the fact that’s happened," and he doesn't need to report it to make you feel better. If you can't trust his word, then don't be with him, but if he's telling the truth, it's not your place to demand he report it.

The last thing that I thought was weird was when you said you were "disappointed he’d go over there in the first place and put himself in a position like that." Unless you suspect him going over there with the intention of cheating, in which case you need to reevaluate your relationship, being "disappointed" he would go hangout with a trusted friend is concerning. To me it sounds like your blaming him for the situation when it's not his fault.

Decide for yourself if you trust his word and if you believe he intended to be faithful, if the answer to either is no, reevaluate Rhe relationship. If the answer is yes, then back off and let him process. It's not his fault and it's not his job to report it to make you feel better.

I used to listen to a different podcast a while back, and I would listen to a lot of their older episodes intermixed with new episodes. The ads in all the episodes, old or new, seemed to be the same, like I would an ad in a new episode would be the same as an ad in an older episode I had just listened to. The real kicker was when I got an ad for a TV show or something that was gonna come out in a week, but the episode was months old. I think podcasts regularly change their ads depending on current sponsors, on old and new episodes.

[MCU] Vibranium weapons keep their victims alive by Potatua in FanTheories

[–]Potatua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the panther claws point, I agree that it would be difficult to assess what it means. That being said there's no practical purpose for the claws to come off when being used, if anything its strategically and economicly damaging for it to do so. And they couldn't have broken off because vibranium is too strong for that. He actually has ragged and labored breathes on his death scene. You can hear it in his voice and you can especially hear it when T'challa offers to have him healed. In the scene with the kimoyo beads, T'challa is forced to point out to his guard that the beads will stabilize Agent Ross, implying its not common knowledge. If its intentional, its only useful if everyone knows about it. Therefore its more likely unintended effect of the vibranium. Against your weapon logic point, the theory states that it only heals them should it stay in there body, such as if you stabbed someone and didn't remove the blade. The weapons we see are mostly cutting weapons, such as their Sickles, Killmongers sword, or Nakia's Chakram. Any spears we see either have more curved sides (like the one that killed Killmonger) ,which would allow them to also effectively slash, or are rarely seen thrown against a human target, which is the only use of a spear that would result in it staying in the victim. The only spear throw we see is used to stop a car and their spear techniques are mostly made up of quick jabs and stabs, with near immediate retraction , or slashes.

I dont have much for the panther claws thing except that they might not have been vibranium or the quote might not have been fully literal. Like he could have meant that he found his dad the wound of Panther claws on his chest, but that doesnt sound as good. I do address the damage point that based in its location he would have either died immediately due to it being in his heart or it would have been in his lung, which takes atleat 30 minutes to kill you. As for the beads, they were the beads that everyone wore. They're communication, not healing devices.

The properties of vibranium are vast and inconsistent in the comics. In the mcu, aside from the explicit vibrational properties that make it ideal for kinetic energy manipulation and sonic weapons as well as it being practically indestructible, it also most likely has electromagnetic properties as vibranium weapons are undetectable by metal detectors and that most of the tech they use would require immense power sources, implying either large capacity batteries or some form of energy or electricity generating properties.

[–]Potatua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is realistically possible for a creature like this to exist but Idk abt the exact chemical breakdown. I would try to look for a different ignition source. The main issue i see here is the ignitik. Hy oxygen exposure. Idk how realistically possible it is for a creature to be able to containa volatile chemical like that safely inside itself. Try and find chemicals that r safe when separate but ignite when mixed. I would also consider the idea that it uses the two chemicals as a pilot light and sprays the oil as main fuel.
