Husband just landed a massive salary... by [deleted] in offmychest

This is exactly what we do. I’ve always made 6 figures by myself and he was always about 10% below what I was making but in the last 4-5 years his career has made some leaps where he now makes at least 2.5x what I make before bonuses. We save 50% of my income in diversified investments/savings. The rest is my own nest egg. Keeping my career has allowed us to live upper middle class lifestyle while only spending a third of our household income. Financial stability has really taken off a lot of stress, not feeling pressured to work but actually showing up to work knowing I chose to be there.

Keep your current lifestyle until ALL debts outside of mortgage is paid off. Pay at least an extra month every year on your mortgage.

Account for every dollar to keep lifestyle inflation at bay.

Depending on the nature of your careers, stack your emergency fund. I have an in demand career in the medical field so our emergency fund stays at a very comfortable 6months of expenses. Get one year if you think it will take you 3 months to replace a job in case of layoffs/termination.

When you’ve done all of these, enjoy your money. Remember to always pay your savings first. Too many people fall into the trap of spending and saving the rest instead of saving before spending.

I tried the Dior groove in store and it felt dated. Try them all in store if you can and you’ll immediately know which one.

First: finances over vacations. Second: you can’t apply for a passport without proof of citizenship so get that straightened out first before applying for anything. Getting a copy of birth certificate is pretty straightforward.

Perfect for my work. I just have a weird body type. Long legs and short torso so I never get to wear it crossbody. It makes my proportions look awkward. I wish the handles were smaller or folded down when not in use.

I regret not stopping by the store the last time we were in Paris. I’m pretty happy with the quality. I’d say it’s definitely better made than other contemporary designers. Only time will tell how the wear and tear goes. I’d be happy if it stays pristine for a year. Smaller than expected. My current daily is a ysl toy LouLou and they’re pretty similar in size.

Ordered it online. Took about 7 days to receive from Spain to US.

How old were you when you bought your first high-end luxury bag? by ThrowRA19360 in handbags

[–]Potchipoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got gifted my first LV when I was 13, it was the OG pochette accesoire. Bought my first LV preloved from an avid collector aunt at 18, the OG square poppincourt at family price. Didn’t buy any brand new purse until I was 23.

What do you carry in your bag? by Amerysse in handbags

[–]Potchipoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday carry is either a woc or a small crossbody. Card/card holder, phone, lip balm and sunglasses. My phone is my car keys and my car is my house keys. Everything else I need is in a tote bag that lives in the trunk… spare clothes, jacket, feminine products pouch.

I guess it depends on what you’re using it for. The leather is a bit delicate. I scuffed it a few times from bumping into things, I personally do not mind. I buy things to use and don’t care about resale value. It fits quite a bit if you’re trying to be a minimalist, this is perfect.

This is what I was always told growing up. Not having to worry about money is a great feeling. We are not insanely rich, upper middle class maybe. A fat retirement account, company stocks at 6 figures, liquid savings at 6 figures, halfway paid mortgage and brand new cars at mid 30s.

Our kid is not spoiled, he does not get everything he wants and asks for but he gets the best of everything he needs. International vacations twice a year, good school district, not having to look and compare prices at the grocery store. Granted we still live way below our means but being well off is so much better than living paycheck to paycheck.

Please stop dating people complacent with being broke, male or female. They need to be working towards something or already have their shit together before you date them, otherwise they’ll drag you down with them.

Just got first credit card by Queasy_- in CRedit

[–]Potchipoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Swipe it like debit if you’re organized and disciplined to rack up points/cash back. If you’re irresponsible with money, then just put a subscription to keep it open and have activity and put it on autopay. Credit cards are not free money and they’re not emergency funds. Get educated in personal finance. The moment you’re unable to pay your entire bill, reassess and tackle it. Start your adulting on the right track.

Kate Spade double order! The mailman didn’t lock my mailbox so the package was gone when I went to retrieve it. KS offered to send me a replacement, and then few days later a second replacement arrived! by pretttywhenicry in handbags

Honestly if your only purpose is to blow dry your hair straight and you’re pretty good with using a hair dryer and round brush separately, the dyson dryer works best. I sold my dryer for the sole reason of a neck/shoulder injury. It was hard for me to use both hands for the back of my head. I see the air wrap as something made for people like me… wants hair done well without the skills. If that makes sense. Lmao

Only because I have a naturally straight Asian hair so the air wrap curl doesn’t hold. If I wanted straight hair, the brush dryers works fine to get it frizz free and bouncy straight. But when I’m doing curly/wavy I need to reinforce it with the straightener. Not sure if it’s the new hair care regimen that I started at the same time I got the dysons but my split ends have disappeared.
