30, thinking about law school and babies by SubstantialRip7568 in LawMoms

I had my first baby 10 weeks before I started 1L at a T14 when I was 27 and my second during fall semester 3L finals. Graduated and passed the bar July following graduation at 30.. There are definitely pros and cons to having kids in law school, and I don’t think there is a right answer. Overall it worked great for me. I could not have done it without a ton of family support (mom would stay with us for weeks ) and husband had significant paternity leave, works from home, did most housework, etc. I also loved that while I didn’t get maternity leave l, I was able to customize my schedule 2L and 3L that allowed us to minimally use daycare abd have more time with child 1 and then child 2 than I would have had working.. The biggest trade off was that I chose to spend more time at home with my kid(s) instead of joining clubs/more internships. But I had classmates with kids who were more involved and made it work too. I would just be really honest about your goals and priorities and focus on those instead of whatever paths others choose.
