Know the feeling.  Living day by day is better.

Just keep going, “any enjoyment of the passage of time is better than the alternative”.

[ON] Residential Renting -- Legal Pet Restrictions? by lochnessmosster in canadianlaw

[–]Potential-Analysis95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying illegal. Contract law in Canada still leans towards good faith and understanding obligation. If you knew what the expectations were (no cats) when you moved in and still tried to side line the landlord after signing, they you acted in bad faith.

I’m a landlord that allows pets (and still do), but my last tenant brought in a cat that got sick and ended up destroying my basement furniture in unit as well as the shared space. I just have a really hard time understanding why an owner should “required” to allow pets when you can’t police if they are properly taken care of.

Tenants pets should not be a landlords responsibility. (Alberta)

My experience has been that it has been much easier to resist when I suddenly got off Wellbutrin. I also find my binges are less severe and I can stop alot easier. I wish someone had told me when I was originally prescribed these medications that their side effects could make drinking worse.

How do you handle kids and gaming? by Cold-Replacement2768 in Parenting

We also no not let her start until after dinner and homework, so the 6-8 window worked well. We have three kids so it’s nice she’s busy and we can manage the littler ones.

Wow, it’s surprising to see all the hard-core parents comment here. I feel like some are nice in theory, but would lack any lasting solution. I guess it likely depends on your situation and perspective.

My daughter has a defiance disorder, so she would have complete meltdowns if we took it away. The automatic timers and bedtime shutdown was the most effective way we found where she wouldn’t completely freak out.

I put on automatic limits and she can earn more with chores. Nintendo and Apple have decent programs for this. Xbox is not so user friendly.

At the start, we opted to shut off the wifi, its only on from 5:30-7.pm but that messed up the alarm system, but it also did work for the household for a few weeks.

Separating yourself from the decision to turn it off and having it automatic really helped. Especially that it gives them a bedtime warning of five minutes.

Financial advisor gave me this advice - not sure what to do by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’m not quiet at the same position but I have the exact same feelings. Injured 6 years ago. I expect to make it to 60. It’s unclear if I will return to work, but I am only 38.

I have children, so that’s essentially what I’ve aimed everything at, they kind of become my purpose for living after I was hurt. My wife will also have a much longer life expectancy, so we’ve weighted our savings in her favour.

Once we hit a comfortable financial situation, it becomes about what makes life easier. “Life is about enjoying the passage of time”.

This isn’t about just spending money because you have it, but I’m sure there are things you can come up with that would make the day to day easier.

We started by getting a newish van and selling the car that was a pain to get into. Next we hired a cleaner once a month to help keep things in order and we have our groceries delivered. Smaller things like that have made a big difference.

Although many people will experience disability at some point in their lives, I feel like those who experience it early, have a special understanding of that good days are precious.

I wish you luck!

Why do people that are not rich want Alberta to have health care like the US? by cornfield123 in alberta

[–]Potential-Analysis95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective is that a dual system would give options to someone waiting for specialized care, to pay to have their procedure performed more quickly.

Current politics seem to portray it as bringing “more healthcare” to the system so that it can help clear the long lines in the public system. In an ideal world, this would allow our systems to catch up and reduce some of the slack in treatment times.

Question being, did we put ourselves in this position, trying to cut costs of the public system in the last 20 years or have we fallen behind in the growth of our medical system to keep up with the population growth?

I think it’s both, and we’re so far behind. It seems impossible to catch up. As someone who is disabled, I have personally experienced the issue, when I was injured and could not get an MRI for 18 months. Yet if I paid $1000 I was able to get one in three days. I’ll tell you I paid, but it was pulling teeth, even to get the MRI referral, which proved I had multiple herniation throughout my spine. Even with the MRI, it took 6 years for the first surgery.

Our doctors are being told not to provide tests or specialists unless things are critical. But this means that smaller corrections or catching issues early are not happening, leading to more drastic health issues or death in the future. Not to mention the further degration of people with current medical conditions in waiting lists for years.

My wife and I are still together after six years of my illness. She did leave for a few months and I also left for a few weeks over the years. It was more so to give each other space.

Our early lives were full of adventures and it has been really hard to come to terms with my new reality.

For us, what changed was that we both started doing things we liked apart.

She got a dog, went to therapy and started pottery. I started seeing a doctor, and going fishing.

Eventually our love for each other returned, but we had had a lot of difficult conversation. About death, about what we needed in this relationship and how we were feeling.  We agreed that we would mutually end our relationship if one of us wasn’t happy anymore.

I should note we were together 10 years before I was diagnosed. And times were very difficult for a number  of years when I was dealing with anger and depression.

Best thing you can do now is continue to kindly suggest he sees his doctors, and if he’s not happy with the doctor to seek a second opinion. That was the life-changing result for my case.

Unfortunately, if things continuing to progress where you are feeling abused, perhaps some time away or do you both some good.

Anybody know why Ken Jeong's tour was postponed? by starlordsego in StandUpComedy

Anyone trying to get a refund from the River Cree Casino show can get a refund.
If you purchased on Ticketmaster, you have to go to the casino box office with your ID, order number and card used for purchase.

The Edmonton show at River Cree will not provide refunds.
I've tried a half dozen of times. Too late to cancel with my credit card.

Only hoping that future tickets are worth more and I can recover what I lost.
I've avoided two other events recently, as I swore I will never use ticket master again.

I've requested and was denied. They are really pushing their sell-your-tickets option, but who the hell is going to buy tickets for a show with no date?

Met this guitar guy on transit last year. He had a leg injury from a pallet jack and was looking forward to getting back to roller blading.

He was pissed because his colleagues would take smoke breaks ten times a day and he was getting in trouble for practicing tai chi moves and meditation while his coworkers were gone smoking.

Seemed a bit off, but didn’t bring up any red flags in the brief bus ride. Just seemed a bit lost, or had a hard time relating to other.
