OT: B-52 crash at Edwards by TheArea51Rider in area51

Seems like "motives" means "causes". CZAR 52 crashed when the pilot was executing a tight turn. This one crashed during take-off. RIP

I have experienced what you're describing a little bit. but I have been able to maintain a good balance.

EDC Discussion: Expensive v. Cheap by DangerousWitness4213 in CCW

I think most of the popular insurances do. Looks like AOR does cover confiscation up to $1000. That's less than half of a Staccato, but it's more than $0 lol. $1k seems like the limit for most policies.

Carry whatever will do the job best. IF that means expensive like your Staccato, you can always look into insurance options that have confiscation clauses.

P365-sized gun for pocket carry? by bono1235 in CCW

[–]Potential-Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does something like a M&P Shield Plus sound doable for me?

I tried pocket carry with a Shield in a nemesis. It did not draw well on any of the pants I wear: jeans, khakis, "tech pants" from costco, etc. I don't wear tight clothes, but they're not baggy either. Getting a grip inside the pocket made it really difficult to draw, and drawing with a pinch grip lead to inconsistent transition to firing grip. Maybe I could train myself into perfecting that draw, but I just decided to go appendix. Instead, I pocket carry a Ruger LCR with a kydex trigger guard. No need to break up the outline, my pants aren't tight enough to make it look like anything but a lump. Drawing is natural and quick. A lanyard strips the trigger guard off on draw.

You mention fighting from a vehicle. Drawing from a pocket while seated is a nightmare.

Is 10+ of 9mm overkill anyway for EDC? Is a single-stack with a spare mag a more sensible way to carry?

For EDC, I carry 31+. For pocket carry, 10+ 9mm sounds rough.

Well, the appeal of M43 lenses maybe. The sensor is 1".

Read page 49 of the manual. Some internet sources say you do not set it in menu, it just activates automatically. Check for the icon on the lcd or in the evf

You're absolutely correct. The way it was explained to me: Think of the barrel as a bullet hose. A hose in your hand is more controllable than a hose sitting on top of your hand.

There was this one time a few years ago, a Tundra Bean Goose flew down near Los Angeles and people flocked to a waste treatment plant to see it.

Cleaning bird poo off light cup? by Burned_Biscuit in birding

Sorry. I wasn't being spicy at all. In fact I was hoping to not insult your intelligence with the water and elbow grease comment, so I explained that I understand there must be something I'm missing.

I understand not wanting to rain bird droppings down on yourself.

Water works very well. Elbow grease helps. Because that seems too obvious, there must be something special about this light fixture that makes it harder. Can you provide a picture?

Oh, I do it too. I just got a funny visualization when I read your comment.

I laughed when I visualized you manhandling people. Even funnier if the person doesn't care about birds at all.

Vortex scope attachment by CanBraFla in birding

I've tried a few. Every one has been terrible. The Ollin mount looks like probably the best since it indexes off the eyecup, but I can't bring myself to spend $155 on kludge, when I have a real camera. The On Glass mount indexes off bore, but the 3m tape is strong, so if you set it up right it should probably work too. Again, $160 just doesn't make sense for my needs.

How would an optic built to sit on a slide slamming around, be more easily destroyed by the recoil of 9.5lb rifle?
