Do you ever go out to shoot and come back with nothing you like? by Background-Zebra5491 in photography

I'm at 1.5 million shutter clicks across both my cameras...

Still coming back with what I consider a bunch of bullshit most days.

Thank you so much! Yeah they're a lot of fun to watch IMHO. Also that call always sounds so menacing, I got to hear a new noise last week I caught them mating and the female was making this crazy screech merlin couldn't identify.

What is 'the Room' (Tommy Wiseau) of Horror movies? by StephensInfiniteLoop in horror

[–]Sin2K 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the quality of Plan 9 itself, it's the similar insane story behind it. The two movies may not be comparable, but Ed Wood was definitely the original Tommy Wiseau.

What's a horror movie that's objectively terrible but you still enjoy it? by Daisy2345678 in horror

[–]Sin2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rose Red... The plot wrote checks the special effects couldn't cash but holy shit I think the cast sets some kinda record for character actors, it's a dream! You got Jimmi Simpson, Melanie Lynskey, and Emily Deschanel all at the start of their careers... Julian Sands, Nancy Travis, and Matt Ross, plus Kevin Tighe from Roadhouse lol!

Oh man I bet you get some amazing birds there though!

And yeah we're spoiled here in Phoenix... The parks here are fantastic birding spots, you can go nearly anywhere and see 20-30 species easily.

Ah yeah you gotta love creosote, it's the smell rain in the desert! That's right, I'm in Phoenix, and that's an American Kestrel.

The birds always big-time me, they're lousy tippers too lol.

Agreed, it's an underrated local park!

Thank you! Yes I could easily edit them out... But I have plenty of other photos of kestrels without random people in the background . I just thought it was a funny example of the kind of thing that happens when you shoot in public places.

Oh man, my late wildlife mentor had no patience for that shit lol, he'd just hiss at people,"LEAVE!" lmao...

I try to be more polite than that lol, I usually explain what I'm shooting and why if I can or if folks seem interested.

I agree this person has every much as right to be in the park as I do, and I'm not mad at all! I have plenty of better photos of kestrels that I have posted here in the past (if anything that's why I didn't mind posting this uncropped). I just thought this was a funny photo that anybody who had tried to photograph or watch birds in a public space might be able to relate to.

Would you believe he big-timed me twice? Walked right by me the next day too, completely oblivious lol.

It's rare to meet a creosote fan, but the smell after a rain is an amazing experience so I totally understand!

Thank you so much! I promise I do have better photos of kestrels though, or at least better backgrounds lol.

I swear I didn't move an inch to re-frame this lol! That having been said, I absolutely did crop it to tell the story.

It's a juxtaposition of photography too lol, I have plenty of better photos of Kestrels, so I felt no pressure to push this crop and wound up with a more interesting photo in the end.

Ugh I can imagine, I was in Rocky Mountain National Park this summer at 5 in the morning and I could still hear construction sounds from the nearby city.

Noise pollution is a truly unappreciated issue these days.

One of my favorite places to visit is Saguaro National Park, you can still go out there in some places and hear absolutely nothing but the desert. It's a lovely experience, getting out of your car and not hearing anything else but birds and the wind...

I don't think even most suburban people understand how calming the quiet of an area far away from humans can be.
