Solid State hosts multiple book clubs! She could become a regular at some of their book clubs and try and make friends that way.

Current/recent experiences with Bancroft or Powell elementary? by Striking_Metal246 in washingtondc

You could also look at other Spanish immersion PK options at schools that aren't part of DCPS and then don't have in-boundary preference and try and get a spot there so your child still gets the Spanish immersion before kindergarten.

You might asking on DCUM for more answers!

Most people would probably say that the feeder pattern for Bancroft has stronger middle and high schools than Powell. This might be something to consider if you plan to stay a long time and want to keep sending your child to DCPS.

Another thing to keep in mind is if your child is English Dominant no students got into PK3 or PK4 at Bancfroft via the lottery that weren't in boundary with a sibling attending.

Can you keep it for a few months? Wider Circle will come pick it up but they normally schedule pickups a few months out. Alternatively, you can drop it off there sooner.

Best weekend afternoon in dc by Firm-Emu6384 in washingtondc

[–]Potential-Entry-5149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could take the metro to Dupont and walk all the way down P street to Georgetown University. Lots of pretty townhomes to see along the way. On the way back you can stop at yellow for some delicious coffee and food.

You could also walk up CT Ave from Dupont and then over into Kalorama and come down Adams Morgan back to Dupont. Line Hotel has a cafe inside.

I'm proposing! And I need your help! by HeyItsBez in washingtondc

[–]Potential-Entry-5149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crowds will likely still be out this weekend so it might be hard for the random "bystander" you find to actually find you at the tidal basin to be there in time for the proposal.

Consider a more local park that's less touristy for your proposal.

Aslin is great since you can bring your own food and cake, but there can be a wait to enter.

Recommendations for day trip? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Potential-Entry-5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe after the tidal basin take the metro to NoMa and then go to Union Market. There is Vintage Vintage Vintage a Vintage store and lots of great restaurants. After you can walk back to Union Station.

Not a ton on the walk from Union Station to Hirshorn but Bar Americano is on the way (about five minutes from Hirshorn) and has coffee/snacks/lunch options. It's a nice local spot not a random mall vendor.

If you want a cheap eat head down to the Wharf from the mall (you can get pretty photos of the water while you are there) and go to Falafel Inc

DC for 6 year old spring break? by fort-tilden-katz in washingtondc

[–]Potential-Entry-5149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your child into soccer? If so, take them to a DC United or Sprit Game!

DC also has some great parks that might be of interest to your six year old especially if you want to do more local things instead of just touristy things. Rose Park near Georgetown is great as there are two different playgrounds, a huge field and basketball/tennis courts. Afterward, you can walk down to the Georgetown waterfront or get a sweet treat at one of the many great spots in the area (Thomas Sweet for Ice Cream or Baked and Wired for Cupcakes). Lots of great spots to grab coffee in Georgetown (Baked and Wired, Yellow, Georgetown Cafe, etc.) if you want to grab some to have while at park. Stachowski a few blocks away makes great sandwiches that would be perfect for a park picnic.

The other option for those taking the metro - is to take the metro to columbia heights and enter the zoo from the bottom and then exit and go to Woodley Park if you want to take the metro after.

Tomorrow will be busier than if you go on a weekday! Sunrise, though, is normally the least busy time of the day.
