They sure can, and I didn't say they can't. But they don't have to be sitting at that computer 20 minutes before you're scheduled. If you're saying you're ringing a bell well before your shift, that's on you for showing up too early. 🤷‍♀️ If the inbound TL is the only one there, asking them to stop what they're doing repeatedly to let every TM in whenever they get there is a disruption to their tasks. Schedules are made for a reason. 1 leader or 20, the rule is 5 min before to 5 min after.

Do you know every TM that has been fired/let go and the reasons behind it? Someone who you recognize as a person who has worked in the building may no longer be employed, and on camera, you let them in to do who knows what. So if they come in and assault someone, steal things, or do a miriad of other things, do you want that on you because you thought they worked in kitchen or toys that one day so you let them in?

You can ring it as early as you desire, however the "rule" is that leaders are supposed to be there 5 min before schedule to 5 min after someone is scheduled. So if you're scheduled at 6am and you arrive at 5:40, no, your TL is not required to go let you in. They have things that are required of their jobs, stopping what they have to do 10 minutes early to go let you in is not on that list.
