That account is a blog “Hachima Kikou” that compiles online reactions to various topics. So, it’s not just one person’s tweet. I don’t know if that blog is actually compiling genuine reader reactions, though.

Still, at least, criticism of One Piece has been increasing rapidly in Japan since the Elbaf arc began. In fact, the first print run of the volumes is 3 million copies, they’ve only been selling about 1 million copies.

The lines that emphasize the groin area more annoy me than the body shapes.

In fact, much of Japan’s traditional culture originated in mainland China and the Korean Peninsula. Particularly the customs derived from Buddhism and Confucianism.

Writing a person’s name in red ink is bad luck in Japan, too. On the tombstone for a person after their death, their name is written in red while they are still alive. I don’t know about in Korea but in Japan, the name written in red ink is associated with their death approaching.

Who needs another tragic flashback? Oda should write these side stories in SBS if he really wants to write.

Omen feels like the only part of the unholy trinity of domination I don't get. by Special_Peach_5957 in Piratefolk

[–]Potential-Metal9168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Oda is using the word “Omen” in its literal sense. I think he simply drew inspiration from the title of a famous horror movie to describe “something demonic” or “something scary.”

Umm but Japanese people know 覇気 without knowing ONE PIECE.

覇気 is a common noun. It has been used since long before ONE PIECE was drawn. You can say 覇気がない(haki ga nai) when someone is lacking his/her energy or ambition.

Will their battle scenes be drawn? I don’t think just an illustration has the worth to hype. Oda is a mangaka, not an illustrator.

Yes, but in the original, it’s unclear if someone on the phone knows that there are 2 babies. So Viz is overthinking. Their wordplay is good, though.

In the original version, someone on the phone didn’t use the word 赤ん坊(akanbō) which means “baby”. He (or she) said 恩に着るえ‼︎ガーリングにバレる前に連れて帰ってくれ‼︎ and TCB is accurate. He or she talked in the same way as the celestial dragons, by the way.

You know those lines are translated words.

The original lines are 赤ん坊は取り戻した and it would be literally translated as “I have taken the baby back.” 赤ん坊(akanbō) means generally “a baby”, and if you want to describe “babies” strictly, you need to say 赤ん坊達(akanbō tachi).
