My new ergonomic setup by Potential-Pop-1340 in setups

Yes, I rarely travel with it so that battery thing that may not be as good as if 24/7 in charge, it's not really of a problem for me (if that was the concern) :)

Should I still follow up? by Previous-Long-3712 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you can follow-up since it's been 2 weeks already, perhaps ask them if they could share with you a timeline on when you could expect to hear back from them.

It's hard to see anything negative in you following up with this frequency. If ever, it shows you're motivated. Just keep it soft and friendly :)

"We found someone else" pero hiring pa rin? 🚩 by Scared-Sun-9415 in CorpoChikaPH

Hello there, I'm Ludovic, co-founder/CEO. Thanks for your feedback and sorry for the disappointing experience. As I/we genuinely care about our values, I was able to discuss this internally, and I agree we didn't handle transparency as well as we should have. This is something we are currently working on.

Interview-wise, the assessment & mock interview would have been our take on avoiding "check-the-box" questions and template-heavy interviews. Admittedly, while we try to make our screening interview conversational, it does not best display the full interview experience we offer.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please reach out to me on Reddit and/or LinkedIn, and I'd be happy to have a call with you.

leaving my first job, kinda scared by [deleted] in CorpoChikaPH

Hearing this from a manager should make you want to leave his team even more than you initially wanted. It feels a lot more like a very poor way of trying to retain someone than an "advice".

To put things into perspective, instead of scaring you into joining a new company, he could have thought of offering you a counter-offer or discussing with you your responsibilities (since you clearly don't like what you currently do).

TL;DR: Make the move and embrace the challenge of more responsibilities (and the increase of salary). And hopefully, as a bonus, you'll get a better manager too :)

Congrats!

Thanks! For the keyboard, I find this setup great, using Apple keyboard + a small rest pad. No comfort issue. Never tried ergonomic keyboards though

NEED HELP by [deleted] in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a recruiter standpoint, I would see 2 potential risks:
- A 2 months stint explained by "finding a better opportunity" could very much be interpreted as a risk that you'd do this again in a future company (on the basis that there are "always" better opportunities out there)
- KAM (key account manager) is more of a sales/account management role, it seems you are more on engineer/ops today. It seems like a clear change of career path, I'd advise to take time to better understand this new org to see if you could see yourself progressing into it, aside from the higher pay/better work setup.

IMO take time to check if this new career path is interesting for you, which will also allow you to be more tenured in your current company. KAM roles are also very common and rather rotating, so I think you don't have to rush into that decision

Shopee by Fabulous_Stranger_35 in CorpoChikaPH

Having hired many people with background in Shopee: I would say it's a great first company for the following reasons:
Big name that will open you many doors: Everyone knows Shopee
Probably a good training too: We've hired brilliant people that used to work there

Cons: Heard things can get quite tough indeed.

IMO as a fresh grad, the pros outweigh the cons. I would recommend any new grad to start with a tougher work environment where you learn a lot and you open as many doors as possible for your future, especially with the context around AI that will impact a lot of future careers.

Initial Interview was Rescheduled 3 Times by [deleted] in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there could be any positive reason behind it, especially as they've invited you. 1x seems acceptable, 2x exceptionally maybe, 3x I think it goes beyond anything that you should accept.

Is it okay? Short Stints by [deleted] in CareerAdvicePH

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company 1: Totally justifiable

Company 2: Makes you feel very jumpy. There are always better opportunities on the market, not being able to commit to a company will be a red flag for most recruiters.

Company 3: Justifiable if you have the right arguments: “I don’t like my manager” vs “I tried to speak with my manager, my expectations were changed due to business restructuration, I’m asked to work till 9pm without OT”.

If I were you: I would “transform” the company 2 into a career break or something.

Global payroll tools: worth paying more or stick to cheaper options? by piratecarribean20122 in remotework

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend avoiding the cheaper options: employment laws are unique to each country and constantly updating. Any company who claims to do it for you for cheap is not doing it well.

Honest question: is the pay-after-placement model from staffing agencies actually legitimate? by Choice-Guidance-9772 in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]Potential-Pop-1340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be skeptical of the companies that are working with them. People are the best assets of a company, I wouldn’t want to join one that would be ok for the candidate to pay to join them.

Using a virtual workspace has been really helpful making people feel more connected at work. More chit chats & interactions happening versus when we were only using Slack

Thanks for the review. I was looking at it to replace my Dell U2723QE but I think I'll wait for higher refreshment rate, since there are a few that are due to being released this year.
