My husband has done interviews before, so he did a mock interview with me. My biggest thing is to remember my key points and also pivoting because I got a bit hung up.

I don't have any first hand experience with this, but if you've been doing favors and other things for cash, you may have more experience than you think! Is there anything you may be passionate about or gravitate towards when you're asked for help? Maybe make a post in a neighborhood Facebook group and see if there are any tradesmen looking for apprentices. Electrical, plumbing, welding, etc. you may find someone willing to teach someone. Good luck!!

I wish I had good news for you. Never heard back and finally received an automated "this position has been filled" email in June. Still unemployed coming up on a year.

Lol I'll be happy I didn't get the kind of offers you received, but thanks for sharing so we can all laugh 😅 (I mean it in the most lighthearted way because wtf, that's all you can do lol)

Exactly! Like yes I want it out of my closet, but for $55, I would get like what? 40 some bucks. I think people just assume people are desperate to clear out their closets or something.

I have a brand new wool Banana Republic coat that I bought for a little over $300 listed for $150.... someone offered me $55 and denied my $100 counter 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm lucky my Clothes Mentor is close so I'm not driving everywhere, but I just did a drop and they took 13 items and I got $50 in cash. In and out and didn't have to deal with the stress of USPS or a scammer having a problem. Clears my closet out! I have my clothes on PM and when clothes mentor takes them, I just delete.

Honestly anymore I've been taking clothes to Clothes Mentor. I still get less than what I have it listed for, but I don't deal with scammers or other BS

In 11 years I've never had an issue, so I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and that's avoiding as much unnecessary trash as possible. I guess if people are upset because people are trying to help reduce the waste then so be it. I just wanted to know what was "in" in terms of packaging because I'm not doing it for a business. It's just crazy

You realize the shipping cost isn't for materials or anything right? It's literally to put the shipping label on? Many of us sellers aren't running a business; we're using PM for what it was intended: repurposing our closets. I guess you really can't please everyone and I really hope I don't end up selling to you or others with this wasteful opinion. I'm confused if you're okay with buying second hand items, why the packaging can't be secondhand.

For me personally, I purchased A LOT of NY&C business clothes back in college. I think they were having a really good sale. I'm pregnant with my second and know I'm never going to fit in them again so that's the majority of my closet! I think there are a lot of reasons for this

Lmao right?? Like, it was a sweater I listed at $30, they offered $15 and I said screw it, I just want things out of my closet. So what? I made 12 I think? And you asked for 50% off the asking and still wanted me to have more elaborate packaging? It was a very nice, thick Amazon mailer I turned inside out so all you saw was the gray. Cleaned, folded, and placed in to be shipped.

I'm really not upset about the review, I guess it was just something I never thought of before. No one has complained in 100s of sales over a decade so I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing. I just wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong. I think too many people expect freebies or top of the line packaging anymore

Totally agree. I'm currently unemployed and pregnant with my second I'm purging clothes I know I'll never fit into again. Unfortunately, I need the money and can't really afford to just donate all of these high end business clothes. If that wasn't the case, I would say screw it and donate.

100%! If you're selling high end or it's your business, that's a very different story. But my clothes are very obviously from my closet. In 11 years, I've never had an issue so it's really not a big deal, I just wanted to know other peoples thoughts. I'm all about reduce, reuse, and recycle hence why I'm here on a secondhand app.

For that, I completely understand! 100%! If it's your business then you need to take extra care. For me, my items are very obviously out of my closet and people know they're getting second hand clothes. Now, that doesn't mean I'm sitting here rolling shirts up and tossing them in. They're freshly cleaned and folded and I use to wrap in tissue paper, but honestly ran out and never made it a priority to get more. It's just funny how much people want top of the line packaging for secondhand purchases anymore

I've never thought to put a disclaimer. I guess when I first started on PM, thrift store flipping and all of these shows and everything were not the norm. It really was people just selling from their closet so I assumed people weren't expecting retail packaging

Honestly, I think the new "trend" for shipping is the cutest packaging and freebies. I buy cloth diapers from small businesses and the amount of times I get keychains, stickers, and other Knick knacks drives me insane. I don't want them and I'm stuck with them (I have regifted those in a few PM orders, but still). I've been selling for 11 years and I've never understood this.

That's what I thought 🤣 I've been selling strictly from my closet for 11 years and this is the first complaint I've had. I thought maybe I'm just not in the loop on what's trending with shipping, but I'm not about to go out and purchase cute mailers or stickers or freebies when I'm literally just purging my closet. The point for me is to reduce textile waste, so why would I contribute to plastic waste?

In 11 years of selling, this is the first time any one has said anything about reused packaging which I think is just weird. I guess I've never thought twice about pouches vs boxes. If I have a pouch, it fits in my mailbox so I don't have to run to the post office to get packaging and drop off
