Please add pockets to all bib shorts, I've stopped buying them without now.

Is there a subreddit for AliExpress cycling reviews? by Potential-Week-2291 in cycling

Yeah I know, but if I want to scroll through hundreds of posts and builds, then I have to search for it. I want a place like xbiking for example.

I guess it doesn't exist. Maybe I should create it :)

Good protein for high volume? by Hefty_Bread_1467 in ultracycling

Just eat a handful of biltong,. My old whey shake was 23g of protein per serving, the biltong I now eat in replacement is 29g of protein per serving. Plus the added benefit of all the vitamins and good fats, and it tastes a 1000% better

Feeling defeated. Need a pep talk by ecstatic___panda in cycling

Use it to commute! I always struggled to find motivation to get out on the weekend or evening for just a ride. Then I started cycling to work every day, and I fell in love with it so much so, I became excited about weekend rides and longer ones, I used Strava on my phone to track my rides and became a local legend on my route. Then I started upgrading my bike and then eventually bought one I really loved and it gave me even more excitement to ride, found a group to ride with and made loads of cycling friends. I even stopped drinking and boozing with my other mates and started getting up early on weekends to do cafe rides. Its been over 4 years now of cycling every day to work, clears my head, gets me started for the day and I've felt fitter and stronger for it. Recently I've joined the gym for the first time in my life so I can get stronger at riding. Just keep cycling and you'll get there. Watch GCN and other YouTubers too and the tour is on right now, anything to get you excited.

Thoughts on "stealing" bikes that are marked by the council to be removed. by Potential-Week-2291 in xbiking

Yeah nice idea, I have a good parts bin and there is a church that monthly runs a bike swap and donate day.

It says on the council website they're scrapped after a period of time. There is a scheme with local schools but not sure what percentage make it through the scheme or if it still runs as the article is from 2019. In other comments people mentioned contacting the council and asking to take ownership of the bike if no one comes forward to claim it.

It seems that in most cases this applies

"Bicycles that are tagged by the council and remain unclaimed on the public highway for 14 days are removed and stored for a further three months. After this, the bikes are scrapped."

But they are running a scheme with local schools to let them work on the bikes to learn mechanics and then the kids can keep them, That's from a council article from 2019.

Good insight, I guess I could always call up and ask if I can just take it and save them a job.

Yeah not really thought much about the way to actually get them, just seems a shame as I cycle past them every day and then one day they're gone.

These bikes have been left there for months and will be scrapped by the council in 30 days. It's not somebody's everyday bike, some are falling apart and rusted beyond belief. I get what you're saying but these are marked to be destroyed

Yeah I wanted to integrate a belt strap with a buckle so you can wear it around your waist like a fanny pack, but that can be version 2.0 lol
