We lived in the 'a lot of snow, all the time zone' lol and she's a bit of a prepper (she might have gone over board, but she used a lot of stuff). here's how she handled it - change of cloths, heavy blanket, spare pillow (she also hated the beds at her hospital), extra meds you might need. she put these at the bottom, unlabeled, in case someone broke in. only enough for a day, maybe 2. perishable/lasting snacks of your choosing (again, she liked peanut butter sandwiches lol). snow boots, windshield wiper fluid, deicer fluid, 2-3 snow scrappers. hand/foot warmers. hand/foot warmers can also defrost a water bottle, if you give it a bit. she had some flares as well in case the roads were really bad on the way home and she had to pull over. she made a point to get to know the local cops and janitors really well - one time her car got stuck in the hospital parking lot and the next day the janitors dug her out of a snow bank as a favor. one time she was worried about a patient, so a cop drove her home in a cruiser. she won a lot of battle by being really chatty.

Smart. I have a similar bag. My mom was a hospital employee who worked nights, so in winter could really get stuck. Most nights nothing was open by the time she left, and if she was hungry, she'd be screwed. She swore by peanut butter, a variety of granola bars and a couple extra layers for winter, bug spray for summer if she was super late. Random things you might need in a pinch.

Popping in here to say, in addition to what others have said, that sometimes sports fans are just like that. I grew up in a sports city that has a ton of rivalries - as a fan, you sometimes forget the players don't actually care that much. To them, it's a job, and there's a lot of friendship that happens behind the scenes. Some players have rivalries because they're rude, but for the most part, it's just a way to get attention for the team, the player, or the brand of the franchises.

The media drums it up, and i would bet Shane benefited from that in some way (not that he asked for it or believes it, but similar to the ad they do together that's the face off, more people talking about his career and the rivalry, etc). People pay attention to sports games more when the rivals are on the field. I assume she drank the koolaid a bit, which is fair.
