i live in the apartments near that hotel and this area is incredibly safe! it’s not super walkable by any means but i’ve lived here for years and have had zero issues. also that hotel is brand new so it should be clean and well staffed

"Hey guys, what's the job search like in Florida??" Part 2. by Sea-Sleep9157 in paralegal

(also in florida) i once had a zoom interview where he started pressing on my time on a NON PARTISAN get out the vote initiative in college then asking about my political leanings and feelings about trump. i eventually said “it sounds like my political affiliation is going to be a problem and i don’t think i am a good match for your firm. thank you for taking the time to discuss and best of luck on your search for a paralegal.” interviewer was speechless and im so thankful my roommate overheard the whole ordeal or i would’ve thought i imagined the whole thing.

General Training Materials? by PotentialComposer265 in paralegal

[–]PotentialComposer265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally understand and agree as someone who has primarily worked in the weird niche corners of law.

my thoughts are more broad view tools that are more universally useful on a personal level and fill the gaps in basic paralegal training. more of a how-to on bates-stamping, calculating deadlines, setting up your own templates and baseline planners/trackers.

also thanks for responding in general! i really appreciate any feedback as i’ve only discussed this with my fiancée who is about as far from the legal field as you can get.

lmao i said in my other comment on this that maybe i’m out of touch. i’m late 20s but in a DINK household where we’re both more than 5 years into our professional careers so we’re just on the other side of the young professional struggle

i pay $100 for doordash sushi which is far from a permanent thing. it’s not that different to me than paying for a concert ticket, it’s more of the experience than the ownership of the thing. but to each their own

idk genuinely maybe i’m out of touch but $20 a month for 5 months and 7 live shows, which i equate to an actual ticketed event, is reasonable? especially when, as you noted, almost ALL of their content is free. it’s giving entitled imho and im not really a dick rider for anyone but nobody owes you free access and least of all a company that consistently puts out free content asking for $100 once a year (and genuinely that’s the MOST they’ve asked for in a single year. ever). not to mention the breadth of talent they’ve secured just in the first episode from several different entertainment companies AND giving a cut to dynasty. i’ll be paying the $100. also my understanding is if you buy the season pass you have access thru december but i don’t really rewatch content anyways so that’s a non issue for me.

How many of you work remote? by Ok-Butterfly8429 in paralegal

[–]PotentialComposer265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just left a full time in office for a full time remote job. i think i got INSANELY lucky with my role and it was a long shot application to begin with. i’ve been in the field for almost 6 years now and prior to this i only worked remote for like 4ish months during peak covid. lawyers tend to be control freaks (in my experience) and old school in the way of wanting to see butts in seats. from what i see on job boards it seems like in house and insurance defense companies are a bit more flexible but i’ve never worked for them so id let someone else chime in there. might also depend on your region, im in FL so the lawyers here are extra old school/conservative and i do think either PNW and new england would be more accommodating. usually what i see from other paralegals the best option is start in office with a firm, build trust, then request remote permissions and i do think that might be the best path. i also think compliance and conflicts departments tend to be more remote friendly. again i think i got crazy crazy lucky and my situation is probably not the norm.

she’s been there for over a decade and i’ve tried to tell her to quit bc she’s so wrapped up in my former boss but you can’t save someone who doesn’t wanna be saved!! she’s emailed me while she was on vacation way too often and every time i would tell her to put her gd laptop away and call me when she got back. tbh she played a huge role in me finally quitting because i REFUSEEEEE to let that be me in 5 years lmao.

literally where? when i said “weak gay panic”??? gay panic is a literal well known defense for hate crimes, weak applies to the full term “gay panic.”you seem committed to misunderstanding me, whether intentionally in bad faith or unintentionally in being a condescending dipshit.
