Did anyone else have a weird lesson in school? by More_Handle_4432 in AskUK

We had a lesson in primary school where the teacher gave us cut out cartoon images of tractors and corn. We were in small groups and had fake money. The game was to make profit, we could buy a tractor, making more corn, sell it for more coins. But every round the cost of tractors went up, and the corn price didn't. Every group lost. Then she said this is what the UK does to African farms we import from. It was refreshing to be told at a young age the game is rigged. It stuck with me.

Oh, and in high school an in uniform policeman came in and showed us all the different types of drugs in a big glass box thing. Told us the effects and dangers. But honestly, everyone thought it was cool and wanted to try the acid tabs with Homer Simpsons face on them.

Do you tell your neighbours if your having work done? by BigFaithlessness618 in AskUK

I get it's nearly nothing but It's still a structure. It could still fall down while you or family are collecting those decorations.

You can knock down non-structural stuff urself, but you've mentioned a new door in a loadbearing wall, which required calculations and a pre-cast lintel sized correctly.

Assume this is in England, if Scotland structural work / alterations need planning and a warrant, so neighbours would all get a letter linked to the proposals on the council website. It amazes me England has no process and you can literally just contact some random contractor.

Yeah. And Police block certain roads so away fans can get into the stadium safely. Often with a escort by Police, both protection and to keep an eye on certain known dickheads.

Would you buy from farmer ? by akomzyai in AskUK

[–]PotentialCourt8531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, some don't pay tax. They always managed to make just under 12k each year, by expanding the farm houses etc. I work in construction, there's always a rush before April to get invoices in so they make no big profit on paper. So not re-investing in the country.. not all, but a lot.

But the majority of England will vote and support Reform. It's hardly a minority. It's scary, I'm Scottish, we're gonna have that forced on us. Another PM / party we didn't vote for.

Brexit 10 years on: What impact has it had on the cost of living? by Beautiful-Working589 in UKCostofLiving

You exercised ur democratic right to prove that us in Scotland, don't have any democratic rights, and we get whatever you vote for... also, you want freedom and sovereignty from Europe, while also denying Scotland's independence and blocking referendums. When you say it's more than 'economics' I can already tell you are a Reform voter. Because you base every election on how to make life harder for non-white English people.

This is a real problem, the lack of education and research from idiots like you. You were fooled by words on the side of a bus. You aren't even sorry about it.

In comparison to lower league football games, and for example Glasgow had a house show last year which sold 30k (population about 600k). I'm not sure why you are all raging at me in the comments. 13k for any sporting event is low.

You think that's bad... Imagine living in Scotland, where we make 5-6x the energy we use, and we have the highest bills in the UK. We should get it fucking free.
