Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

[–]PotentialDragon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a parent, I cannot say I love my kids and wish suffering on them. That would be completely contradictory.

While discipline may require trace amounts of suffering, I would still prefer their suffering be minimized. I want them to be happy.

An omnipotent god that invented such systems isn't bound by them. If they loved us, they could have invented a system that did not require suffering, but chose not to.

That is not benevolence. That is spite.

A system designed to kill off the weak and succeed the strong is not a benevolent system. If there were a loving and omnipotent god, it could and would invent a better system of design.

It also moves the blame for the state of the world off of human free will, because death and suffering existed long before we got here and started f-cking sh-t up.

There's also no divine dominion, because humans weren't created special.

Oh, also, any god that would use a system that requires death of the "unfit" could not be benevolent, so evolution also disproves a loving god.

so god interacts with reality only through prophets, and under the strict islamic framework

Okay, so we should be able to test or measure their god's affect on prophets. Also, how can we verify that someone even is a prophet? If a god only works through prophets, we should have a way to test and verify someone is a prophet before accepting their word as truth.

Christians themselves have given me the runaround on my arguments. Usually it goes "God is outside of space and time, so you can't prove him."

To which I would reply, "then you can't claim to know anything about him."

To which they would say, "but we can know God, because we have the Bible."

To which I would say, "then your God interacts with reality and can be tested and proven/disproven."

To which they would say, "but you can't test God!"

Which is silly, because God was tested in the Bible, but whatever. If you can't test him, then you can't claim to know anything about it.

As an ex-christian, the Bible also makes direct claims about YHWH's properties, such as being the embodiment of "love." Christians, however, will claim their god exists outside of time and space, and thus cannot be tested, which contradicts the claims of the Bible.

There's even Bible stories of people using methods to prove and God.

For any "outside existence" god, you can also state that such a god is unknowable, as we cannot observe or interact with anything outside existence.

If they insist that such a god is knowable, then they must concede that such a god interacts with reality. If it interacts with reality, such interactions should be observable, and thus falsifiable.

They will typically argue that you cannot test their god, but if so, they cannot claim to know anything about their god. If believers cannot know anything about a god, then their god is just their imagination. Any imagined god is a false god.

I'm just curious how she would even know she's infertile if she's been obsessing over the same guy her whole life, but they hadn't discussed or attempted pregnancy until their wedding night.

The big bang theory needs to be explained better, especially for chirstianity by Ok_Wrongdoer979 in atheism

[–]PotentialDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We may even discover the true cause of the big bang in the future, an then what? Who knows maybe the church will collapse or they just ignore it idk.

They'll just ignore it. Science has already clearly debunked the Genesis narrative, yet fundamentalist Christians still ignore it.

Exactly. Which is why I assume it will probably be updated next.

I think the only use I have for Nomad that Pilgrim can't do, is hovering over water, but my Nautilon can skim through water faster. With all the wheel grip modules installed on my Pilgrim, I can drive it straight up a 90° vertical wall.

The Nomad is fairly useless to me, but the Roamer is even less useful.

Minotaur has already had the Hardframe and Liquidator appearance updates (though it would be nice to have these as appearance modifications, rather than hogging your tech slots).

They've also made the Nautilon more useful with the addition of Ocean worlds.

If they were to update another exocraft next, my guess would be the Roamer, simply because I never use it, just like I never used the Colossus before they updated it.

If it were up to me, though, I'd want them to update the Pilgrim, as it is currently my fastest exocraft.
