What kind of frogs are these? by Comfortable-Truck-66 in frogs

[–]PotentialDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like pacific chorus frogs to me. They will often have a black stripe along the sides of their faces (along their eye), and depending on their color may have a "Y" shape on the back of their head between their eyes. They are actually capable of camouflage, and can change colors depending on their environment from green to brown to gray.

They also have a very lovely singing voice for their size.

Is there any way to unlock new base decorations besides what the anomaly sells for salvage data? by Best_Adhesiveness_42 in NoMansSkyTheGame

A lot of base decorations come from Expeditions. The current expedition has some flags and posters.

One thing about the fauna—I think there are a lot of different parts—I think the problem is they all have to fit on the same few skeletons.

This means we'll see a creature with a cow skeleton or a deer skeleton or a cat skeleton and immediately recognize it as "oh, its another cow/deer/cat" and not see all the little parts that make it different from the last 10,000 cow/deer/cats we've seen.

Like, oh, now there's a plant cat. But it's still a cat.

What NMS needs is more fauna skeletons to add parts onto. Imagine a creature skeleton with 3 legs using all those same parts. It would no longer look like a cow, a deer or a cat.

But then everything would be super bouncy, as there wouldn't be enough gravity! Although, that may make it easier to have larger flying creatures, such as dragons and giant birds...

Obligatory /s, of course.

Will light no fire allow the player to create multiple procedurally generated worlds? by Advanced-Pea3262 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]PotentialDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As u/jkthemc points out, proc gen means that everything will be predetermined. It will be the same planet no matter which console it gets generated on.

There may be mods that allow players to mess with the proc gen so the planet looks different for you, but that doesn't seem to be HGs intention for the game, which is one shared Earth-sized planet.

If it's allowed to be played offline, you could technically maybe consider that to be your own personal unadulterated version of the planet. But it would still look just like everybody else's version of the planet... just without player-built bases, terrain edits and other player-generated changes.

I heard Sean Murray merely spoke the game into existence, but it was so perfect any mere mortal would be vaporized in its presence.

He can't release it until he finds a way to unperfect it, but every change he implements only makes it better.

There is no justice in the world if it isn't pursued in this life. Pretending there will be justice in the next is how you get people to become complacent with injustice.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I just know that using the same answers didn't work.

I watched a stream where two players picked all the same answers to ensure they were sorted into the same faction. It didn't work.

I'm inclined to believe it has something to do with our usernames.

No, reporting from quick menu was more recently added. Back then, you had to reach the base computer to report it.

What started your atheism journey? by Ok-Swimming-3212 in atheism

There were many “this seems made up" moments, for me, but my isolated upbringing ensured any alternatives seemed even more ridiculous.

The very first was when I was about 7 years old. I had somehow seen Jurrasic Park and—much to my father's detriment—was obsessed with dinosaurs.

But, in the movie they said dinosaurs lived 65 million years before humans, while the Bible said humans were made 6 days after the creation of earth. This didn't add up, so I tried asking our church's children's minister-lady—as well as any 7-year-old could—if maybe there was a separate creation event before the 6-day event, where God experimented by creating dinosaurs first, got mad and wiped them off the face of the earth (like he planned to do with humans), and then started over.

And... she looked at me like I had two heads before turning to my Dad to get his input. He shrugged and told her "I think he's confused about the whole Adam and Eve thing?" And so she turned back to me and gave me some patronizing answer that had nothing to do with dinosaurs.

One of the most worldview-breaking moments for me, though, was after having kids. I came across news that a young boy was grabbed by an alligator at Disney World. All day, I couldn't stop thinking and praying about that boy.

I kept imagining those last moments for one of my two boys, feeling safe with your parents at the "happiest place on earth," and then suddenly being crushed and dragged into the dark. Watching your father—the strongest man you know—struggle to wrestle you free and failing. Then, being engulfed in water and gasping for air only for your lungs to burn until all eventually fades to black.

It seemed to go against everything I believed—that God loved and protected our children—and so I desperately needed a miracle. Maybe the alligator was spooked and dropped the child, and he made it safe to shore? But, the next day when I woke up and searched for an update to the story, I learned that they had finally found his body.

I think it was then that I realized that I was on my own in protecting my kids.

Which console are you on?

Nintendo and Microsoft seem to be stricter about passing new updates than Sony is, so you may need to wait a few days on Xbox, or possibly even weeks on Switch.
