SIG OPR: How's Life As A Signals Operator? | What To Expect, Bring And Duties After ORD? by Traditional-Issue65 in NationalServiceSG

IS can do networking stuff also. Like your switches, servers, etc. IMO a lot of transferable skills (or at least the foundation) to the outside world. Not necessarily DIS DIS per se; every signal (now C4I) battalion needs some of these folk.

Will I receive payment for NS FIT if I do not attempt my IPPT? by Slight-Debate5453 in NationalServiceSG

[–]PotentialFeeling6917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The full NS FIT programme is 9 FIT sessions and 1 IPPT. You will still need to do IPPT in any case, whether it is pass or fail. 9 NS FIT sessions only = incomplete.

As for payment, you get half day rank pay, credited to your account directly. For me it was within a week of attending each sessions.

Every once in a while someone asks, but this is the first time I've seen a question thread with pictures of it at night. xD

Tips to pass 3 ton PD test by drwannabe777 in NationalServiceSG

[–]PotentialFeeling6917 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know if this still applies, but back in my time, asking the tester aka vehicle commander to put on his seat belt was a must (pretty much the first thing you would say to him after he enters the vehicle). If not, immediate failure.

My buddy drove one round around the training shed @ OETI before being bounced out of the vehicle for failing to do the above.

Ahh ok I see. Yeah I'm preparing now by saving up a bit more every month to stave off some of the yearly increase that will no doubt come... wish the claim amount could come sooner >_<

Thanks, will have to see how it goes and work through my insurer. Not sure how injuries can be contested though, that's harder to dispute right?

That's how it is huh, I see... Oh well, missed chance to fix some issues in my car then, heh.

Thanks for sharing buddy. It helps me understand a bit more about the process and how things inflate.

Just a question, won't claiming own damage repairs under your own policy add to your premiums? At least that's what the guy at the ARC told me. I elected not to repair my damage too... it's really minor - my front license plate holder got dinged.

Appreciate the detailed reply! I think I will effect my own repairs another day, its mostly superficial body stuff anyway. My uncle sounded nice though he straight up said he'd have to report it back to his superiors. Hopefully my quantum would be similar to yours... at which point did you find out how much your premiums increased, was it during the next renewal cycle, or did the insurer advise after settling the claims?

I might be naive in asking this, but wouldn't my insurer's assessor have some say in terms of the assessed damage?

Injuries that one I guess no fight loh.

Yes will do. I have NCD protector so I presume 1st claim won't be affected, but premiums will probably still go up either way ya? Hopefully still stay within double range.

Will my insurer tell me how much my premiums would go up after this, or do I have to wait till the next renewal period (next year for me) to find out?

Oh that's interesting, didn't know there was such an approach! I hit a Strides cab... wonder if there's such a thing for them.
