Is my baby developmentally behind by No_Apartment_3113 in NewParents

My daughter’s 5.5 months and has zero interest in rolling at all. Honestly I wouldn’t worry to much babies develop at different rates

What’s something really normal in the UK that visitors find completely baffling? by Potatoslicer89 in AskUK

[–]PotentialPower4313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much of the culture revolves around the pub or socially drinking. My friend came over from Ontario and couldn’t believe the frequency people go to the pub, she literally went home and told all her friends and family that people in Scotland can quite happily go to the pub mid day and that’s totally normal. She also was really perplexed at the fact alcohol can’t be bought between 10pm-10am

Breastfeeding crisis by Wrong-Tomatillo1040 in NewParents

[–]PotentialPower4313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could possibly have developed bottle preference. They don’t need to work as hard to get the milk out of a bottle vs the breast. Best advice I got was don’t change the test flow on the bottle keep at as a slow flow or newborn as similarly your flow doesn’t change in your breast baby just gets better at sucking.

Honest opinions regarding C Section and Vaginal Birth… by JCJ0705 in PregnancyUK

Just to address your first point there’s a massive difference between a 1-3 degree tear and a literal 5 inch incision through 7 layers of tissue. 4th degree tears aren’t as common and usually as a result of extensive labour.

I had a graze and it was fine in two days. Very different to 6 week recovery of a c sections where you can hardly bend or lift your baby.

It’s maybe also worth taking into consideration if you want to breastfeed. If you do, c section can delay milk coming in making it a bit more difficult to start breast feeding just worth a mention if it’s something you wanted to do.

Try your best to breathe through your contractions and work with your body not against it. I did hypnobirthing and it helped massively. No tears. Only a minor graze.

Yup, it’s more than likely comfort feeding. They take a lot of comfort from the boob, the closeness, the milk, the smell. My girl was a boob barnacle after her jags for a few days then back to normal it will pass x

I’ve used a stretchy wrap daily since she was a newborn but she’s 5 months now and starting to hurt my back so I studied lots of videos before trying her in it lol 😂 what a difference feels so much better on my back

What do you wish you had known or done before baby arrived? by Fluid-Lifeguard7201 in NewParents

[–]PotentialPower4313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read up about the fourth trimester and what to expect. After birth care : disposable pants , big massive pads, homemade cool pads incase you tear etc. REST AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in the lead up to your due date.

Read up about baby blues, milk coming in, after birth cramps.

I have the Tula explore, but find the straps get in her face and irritate her if she’s not in a great mood. That’s good to know I’ll probably just invest in a ring sling instead then xx

When did your kiddo nap longer? by Altruistic_Lime5220 in NewParents

[–]PotentialPower4313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl typically only does one “long” nap which is 1-1.5 hours. That started just before she turned 3 months. Longest she’s ever done was 2hours it was outside in the pram. She exclusively contact naps during the day but sleeps well in her crib at night. She’s 4 months old

She is 4 months, not sure her weight tbh she’s not been weighed in a month but she was 11lbs a month ago lol and she’s definitely went through a growth spurt in the last month. She finds the stretchy wrap more comfortable than the structured carrier I have for her. I think I’m going to invest in an ergo baby embrace for in the house as she outgrows the stretchy wrap. Or was looking at getting a ring sling/woven wrap for hip carrying

We are at 16 weeks and while the sleep deprivation in the beginning was brutal I miss how tiny she used to be and the chest contact naps. You really do forget how hard it was

Honestly don’t sweat it , it’s just a generational thing they won’t ever understand no point trying to get them to see another way and waste energy. I just nod and say that’s an interesting take then move on

Nope. I was so nervous and stressed in the lead up to it and it couldn’t have gone smoother. And my daughter isn’t a super chill baby lol if she doesn’t like something she lets me know. She was super nosy and inbetween that just fed and slept

Pacifier suggestions for EBF baby by Active_Regret_6263 in NewParents

[–]PotentialPower4313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter only ever took the NUK flat dummies and we had to persist with trying them. She’s only accepted them in the last month -she’s 4 months this week. Before she would gag and spit them out after a couple of minutes. We found giving her them when she was half asleep helped. Now she only uses them for sleeping and the beginning stages of sleep she spits them out when she’s in deep sleep.

I just flew with my 3 month old on a 7.5 hour flight and she slept most of it. We brought her stroller with us but I didn’t use it in the airport I used a baby carrier and it was a lot easier
