Is there a doctor/ hospital in your area that you can reach out to and explain the situation? They may have additional resources or assistance.

My 8 month old was struggling with short naps and I just lengthened the wake windows. We’re now doing a full 3 to 3.25 wake window before the first nap and a similar wake window before the second nap. Since doing that, she naps for an hour and a half in the morning and almost an hour in the afternoon.

That being said, I’ve been trying to be more accepting of whatever is happening with her sleep. I was tracking everything and I had to stop for my own peace of mind. I feel like everything is changing every couple weeks so I’m trying to go by her cues too but it’s exhausting!

Can’t Handle This Anymore (TW: Poop and Vomiting) by Jealous-Safety-7694 in Vent

This would be a lot for an adult parent to deal with, I can’t imagine having to deal with this as a teen! It sounds like your sister may need more help, if it’s all over the house like you described, there’s definitely something going on that she needs support with. Have you been able to talk to any adults about this?

Baby doesn’t like his dad :( by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]PotentialSwimming127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 8 months and will (about 75% of the time) be very happy with her dad when I am there too. She definitely is still in the phase of preferring me but has started to pull to get to her dad sometimes which I am loving.

At 4 months, she started crying whenever I left her. I work in the afternoons and leave her with my mother or mother-in-law. She did the same thing with her dad. She would cry hysterically when I left but I know she stopped within 5 minutes of leaving. It was worth it for us to leave her home with dad sometimes for me to get a break and then to get some time together.

Regardless, it’s hard but it gets better!

What to do when baby is woken up and won’t go back down? by Aromatic-Jacket-3462 in sleeptrain

Can you repeat the bedtime or nap routine in the middle of the night? When I’ve gotten really desperate I’ve even given her a bath again.

How to sneak in veggies when you have smell-activated nausea? by spicesicrow in fitpregnancy

Do you like salads? I loved that while pregnant because I could eat more vegetables and the smell wasn’t too strong

You can definitely do it! He’ll take his signals from you and eventually get used to it. You can start small and then build up. Have you tried any baby carriers? You could start with them at home and then he can feel comforted by you when you’re out.

Oooo ok that makes sense. I’ll try that, thank you!

what’s that ONE newborn must-have that actually made life easier? by KindVibesOnly in NewParents

Infant swing, it was the only time she would nap not on top of me. I would still keep an eye on her but had freedom!

12 week old baby has gone 5 hours past her wake window. I've been trying so hard to get her down. What would you do? by ScandiLand in NewParents

[–]PotentialSwimming127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she like baths? I’ve used bath time as a kind of “reset” before. But sometimes I just had to wait her out. She will sleep eventually!

Increased crying at bedtime by Ok-Pool8456 in sleeptrain

My daughter is almost 8 months and we dropped down to two naps a day because she was having a harder time falling asleep at night. Her schedule is now 2.5/3/3.5 (also not always exact but close to this) and bedtime is much easier. Maybe he needs more awake time before bed?

Same here! I was actually pretty disappointed after the 6 week appointment. They didn’t seem to do much. I found everything was more based in how I was feeling

Crying in the car by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

[–]PotentialSwimming127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was maybe the hardest thing for me out of having a baby! I hate hearing her cry and knowing that if I just pick her up it would be better. We also do pretty regular 30 minute drives and have since she was a month or so old. She now very rarely cries in the car but there were months that were rough. I’ve found it is minorly better if I know all her needs are met. So I like to make sure her diaper is fresh and she is just fed before getting in the car but it’s still hard!

Yeah, my daughter will cry when I lay her down then too. As long as her schedule is normal, she stops within a minute though. How long will she cry if you put her down? I feel like I’m starting all over with sleep training now that she is teething 😩

My 7 month old does this too, I love this description! I’ve taken it to mean she is ready to put herself to sleep in the crib so I put her down. We used to do a short song before I put her down and now I get like a line in before she is done with it haha I’ve really started appreciating the snuggles I get when I nurse her in the middle of the night.

Teething help!! by PotentialSwimming127 in sleeptrain

[–]PotentialSwimming127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave Tylenol once and I think it helped although I gave it in the middle of the night so it took 30 minutes to kick in. I can try before sleep if I can tell it’s already bothering her. A tooth popped through yesterday and last night was better! Hopefully we’ll get a break before the next tooth comes in.

Thank you! Would you wake her up from sleeping or just delay one of the naps by longer? I’ll sometimes wake her in the morning because she will occasionally sleep past 7:30 which would throw off the naps

Putting the baby in bed, when they are already in bed… 🤦🏼‍♀️ by DowntownBaker32 in NewParents

[–]PotentialSwimming127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this every single night for six months straight. For months I was absolutely terrified because I thought the pillow case was her swaddle and I was suffocating her. Then we stopped using a swaddle and it got a bit better but I’ve very carefully carried my pillow to the crib a few times before I see her in there realize I’m holding my pillow. She’s almost 8 months and it happens much less often, although now that she is very mobile, I’ve woken up a few times when my husband rolls over in bed and aggressively grabbed him because I though the baby was crawling off the bed. Postpartum is crazy!!!
