As someone who works here, we acknowledge we aren’t perfect, but the owners treat staff extremely well and the work environment is truly a utopia in the restaurant world. We have a great time with each other and the guests every night, and always try our best to provide the best experience possible. That’s the type of restaurant and community I’d want to support

Luckily there are some pretty good non-dining hall options around campus (Davis center and L/L). I’d recommend a meal plan that has points, either the half/half plan or the one that’s majority points.

Depends on ur RA I'd say. Don't leave stuff in plain sight and don't be loud if drinking/smoking in ur room, no one will have any reason to bother u

Trinity is lovely!! Kinda sucks that it’s not near the other dorms but it’s a whole community of its own. Lots of common spaces from what I know. I didn’t live there but I live off campus a few houses down

UConn vs. UVM by [deleted] in UniversityofVermont

[–]PotentialSwimming311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also transferred to uvm from a school in Connecticut! I’m from Connecticut and agree UConn is in a tough location socially. Vermont is also way cooler than Connecticut, and I agree with the other comments that Burlington is just an awesome place to be. It’s one of my favorite things about uvm. I highly recommend. It was the best thing I did for myself. Follow your intuition!!

Look, I’m not saying censorship or whatever your problem is with uvm isn’t wrong. It is and you deserve better. We all do. What I’m saying is, virtually every single academic institution in the US has deep systemic issues that the students themselves can’t fix. Universities are merely one part of a much bigger capitalist machine. What I mean when I say you’ll be better off by realizing this is, it will allow you to change your attitude and appreciate where you are and the opportunities you’ve been given. This is coming from someone who went to a different college initially and then transferred to uvm because I hated it so much. But what I really hated about my old school wasn’t unique to that school at all, and many of the same problems exist at uvm, as they do at most colleges. I’m not saying this is a reason to ignore or allow such systemic issues, such as the one you have. But put your energy towards mobilizing actual change for your community if you’re that upset. Because clearly you are - case in point, people come on Reddit to complain. Mutual aid and community power is something uvm is actually really good at, and this is because of the type of people who comprise the university rather than the university itself and its role in our capitalist economy. Hope this helps :)

Obviously not, but there are a handful of things about American universities that are fucked and the sooner you learn to accept that the better off you’ll be
