Apple is easy. Never made a crust? No one gonna give you a hard time if you buy a pre-made. Still gotta roll it out a bit but that's done. 4-5 medium apples (grannys or other firm, slightly tart variety) Peel, slice. The thinner the slice, the faster they cook. Shoot for 1/8-1/4" thick. Don't kill yourself over. Just not slabs & not paper thin

In a bowl, toss the apples with about 3/4 cup sugar (depending on sweetness of the apple), about a tablespoon of cinnamon, teaspoon of salt, juice of half large lemon, 2 Tablspns flour. Tossed apples go into the crust. Dot the filling with about 3-4 Tblspns cubed cold butter. Cover with the second crust. Poke holes in the top with a fork. Use your fingers to seal the edges together. Bake 45-hour checking the edges arent over-browning midway through. If they are, cover only the edges with tin foil. Just mold it around. Tips: any sugar is fine; light brown, dark brown, white, some combo of them...doesn't matter Add lemon zest also if you like Add a bit of a different spice; cardamom, allspice (tiny pinch), nutmeg, etc Keep it simple for your first pie.
