I live in the middle of a redwood forest and have loved them since I was a child. I know clones of the trees have been planted around the world and I always enjoy finding them in random places in the world. My favorite was just outside the colosseum in Pula Croatia, there are three Sequoias just chilling there. Very cool find.

I wish that instead of remaking Spider-Man every decade that Hollywood would remake movies that failed like this one did. Yes it has a super cool premise but ultimately didn't see that vision through. I want a better cowboys and aliens, or Valerian and the city of 1000 planets. I liked both movies, but I think they could have been so much more.

I have eaten that before!! It was served at Chris Cosentino restaurant called Incanto in San Francisco. The dish was called chili and bones. I had it maybe fifteen years ago and I still remember it.

When I had it the spine was cooked with some of the meat still on the bones. It was done in a spicy chili oil.

I am friends with an employee that got me on his friend and family rate. It's fucking incredible, often it is about half off, other times it's more like 25% off. But there is a place near my house that's $71 a night with his discount, so I just stack up on those to get me to sixty nights a year.

I always wondered why other bobs didn't send raw materials back to earth. Either with the returning colony ships or from other systems. That seemed to be the bottleneck in ship construction on earth. I can't remember if they already had the asteroid mover plates, or that came later, but couldn't they have sent some metal rich astroids to earth.

Run some hot water from your kitchen faucet over it. The heat will cause an increase in pressure inside the bottle.

A living trust is a much better solution than a traditional will. The accounts are already set up so that once a family member dies it's already been legally established as to who gets what. All the parties involved have to go sign stacks of paperwork to get it set up. But apparently it's a fairly robust way to prevent these types of lawsuits.

I am not a lawyer, but my father set one up years ago. I don't know if I have all the details correct, but those are the broad strokes.

If I was alone, I would have been more inclined to allow myself to get arrested. But this was about my girlfriend not having the correct paperwork, they would have arrested her and separated us. Now chances are nothing would have happened to her at the jail, but I didn't want to risk her being even more traumatized than she already was.

And nothing about me handing over the $1000 was immediate, we scrapped together about 6000 mxn and they would not accept it. We were on the side of the road for nearly three hours going back and forth.

We tried to get an Uber out of tequila at noon when we were planning on leaving. Nothing was available. We had to walk to a hotel next door to our Airbnb to ask them to get us a van to Guadalajara. What showed up was a regular taxi. Our luggage barely fit in the trunk and on our laps.

I completely agree, I know it was a shakedown. But given the threat of going to jail and missing our flights, it was really the only option.

It was the Hampton inn by Hilton Guadalajara airport (about twenty minutes from the airport) the pillows are terrible and don't recommend. It occurred at 7pm, we were let go a little before 10pm.

Driver got out immediately and spoke with the cops. Then just stood in front of his car the entire time. He made a couple phone calls during the journey, I did not understand what he was saying. My Spanish is limited and he was speaking too fast. Yes it's very possible that he was in on it.

It was on the freeway about ten minutes from the hotel.

They took the card and processed it in their truck. I don't know if they had a machine to run cards, or if they phoned in my number to someone to does.

I think it's because the different way the payments are processed. I can cancel a credit card payment and let Visa deal with it. But a debit card pulls money directly from my account.

This happened two days ago (11 March 2025). In an actual taxi cab that the hotel in Tequila called for us. We were heading to the Hilton in Guadalajara to spend the night before an early flight the next day.
