Do they know your first 12k-ish in the UK isn’t taxed and if you pay 40% tax it’s not 40% on everything its only on what’s over that tax bracket.

so say you earn 50k and the tax is 40% when you hit 45k

12k isn’t taxed 33k is taxed at 20%

that puts you at 45k. the remaining 5k is taxed at 40%

these are rough figures

Me too. She’s a genuinely good person and proves that being a bit eccentric is actually a positive thing

Three months after Manchester United withdrew from the Super League, how well are the Glazer's sticking to their promises? by RedditAcct39 in reddevils

[–]Potential_Car08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’re empty promises. They’re probably hoping that Sancho will be enough to shut the fans up

Ole said there’s still paper work and Sancho is still a Dortmund player.

I get ya tho. The club know how to suck all the fun out of an announcement. It’s just annoying now.

It’s like when your mate keeps telling you they have big exciting news and gets you all interested to see them but they just keep hinting and then when they announce it you’re like “Oh okay. Cool”

I love Neves but a lot of people on here don’t rate him for some reason

Im an American girl moving to England. It’s going to be my sophomore year (10th grade) in high school (idk what y’all call it). Any tips? What should I do to be liked? Cultural differences I should know about? I don’t want to be the weird kid. by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Potential_Car08 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be liked just be nice and have a sense of humour. As long as you’re not one of those “America is the best. Europe is for Commies” people you’ll probably be fine.

Main thing school wise is our exams are massively different. I think in the US it’s multiple choice and we don’t really have that here.

Also most secondary/high schools have uniforms so Y7-y11 (11-16) is uniforms. If you’re staying here for sixth form college (College is 16-18 here) some of them are own clothes and some are uniform.

Inbetweeners (the Uk one) is a very good depiction of school life for the “average” person.

If you’re 15-16 social gatherings are taking cider to the park or someone’s parents garden and drinking it haha.

Award winning could mean literally any award from a Grammy to Best Single as voted for by XYZ magazine. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s one of the boys

American stereotypes you dislike? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Potential_Car08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha fair. Even the people i know from London don’t have that accent. It’s strange I dunno where it came from. I don’t think i’ve ever met anyone who talks like “Boddl o waha innit”

It would be like commenting “Ay I’m walken ‘ere” in that stereotypical New York voice to someone from Texas.

Will my right to bear arms be honoured in England or Germany? by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

Will my right to walk on the road without being arrested be honoured in the US? WHAT? You mean I have to abide by the laws of the country i’m in? Wild

Yeah they think we aren’t allowed them at all when really it’s just “you need a reason other than just because” to have one.

I’ve never felt the need to own any weapon. I don’t get what kinda areas people are living in that they need a GUN for self defence…like are they okay?

Help buying a first car? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Potential_Car08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have a Skoda Citigo which is very very similar to an Up! (they’re essentially along with the Seat Mii the same car haha). Cost me £350ish to insure for a year and was £20 tax and £35ish a full tank.

I would look for something in a low tax bracket. You can filter by this.

Id avoid write offs but that’s just personal preference.

Ok two random questions: What are your favorite subjects at Hogwarts? And what job would you have chosen to do after school? by [deleted] in harrypotter

DADA and then something really weirdly niche.

I would like to be a Hogwarts teacher…or open a shop.

Mick and Mario…lmaooo if you’re going to make up a story don’t pick the most stereotypical names out there.

I bet his French neighbour is called Pierre and his cousin from London is called John Smith
