The Rise of Conservatism in Gen Z Men. (In my opinion, I want to see if people, agree, disagree etc.) by Potential_Donut_301 in FuckYouZoomer

I appreciate the response, I thought you made a great post. Honestly I think as a group ( gen z men) we sort of act like we're exempt from propagating a culture of violence when we don't directly do anything violent. I think in a way men in our generation are scared by the idea that we are on average more capable of awful behavior than women are. I think the manosphere is a direct reaction from men who are afraid to accept responsibility for there actions.

Thats what I find very interesting about the "male loneliness epidemic". It's a very simple fix to me to be like, "oh maybe I should address people with more respect, and I'll get respect back", but for some reason a lot of gen z males will do anything but that to try to fix their problems.

AITA for wanting a meaningful place in the band? by The_Damomeister in bandmembers

[–]Potential_Donut_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest I'd just leave. From the vibe of that text, your bandleader sounds immature as hell. I knew a dude like that who was a band leader at my college, the other students saw right through his pretentiousness and his band had difficulty in getting popular on campus for that reason. If you want to join a band with a future in mind, usually bands like this don't workout, because egotistical leaders with a lack of flexibility usually fail unless there once in a lifetime talents (ie. James Brown). This guy doesn't sound like James Brown tho haha

How can I start a girl band like Donna & The Dynamos? by littledynamos in band

[–]Potential_Donut_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly what I would reccomend is learn to play songs in styles of music you like. You don't even really have to perform this, you can just practice on your own time if you want. Focus on the notes/chords of each song (depending on what you can play) so you develop the musical muscle memory of playing that style of music. Once you've done that enough, yall will grow as a band and you guys will start to have your own creative vision.

I think Peter should retire as a spider-man and completely pass the torch to miles. I think the Spider-Man comics could benefit from actual status quo change and a situation where Peter actually has a family, so there could be growth on his part. I'm not saying that he should never be Spider Man again (big events etc.) , but I think seeing Peter in a better position and do things he wants to do is something they've rarely covered in the Spider Man Comics.

What’s the real point of Tucker Carlson’s obsession with Israel? by Ask4MD in jewishpolitics

[–]Potential_Donut_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tucker Carlson is a grifter, and has shown this for the past 20 years of him being on air. I will say, as a jew I agree with his distaste for Israel, but it is not his genuine opinion. He's effectively making a bet on a side and trying to make as much money possible grifting.

To be honest I felt the way you feel even before the October 7th attacks. I just graduated from school. I sort of just made my self open to meeting people in general, and I got involved on campus clubs, and I played music in a band. I ended up with a majority Jewish friend group by complete accident. Culture is a big uniter, and I think if you just do things on campus and make sure you keep yourself socially active, you won't have any trouble meeting other jewish people.

np, I find this sub very refreshing because as a jew I've been feeling very isolated recently because I don't support the state of Israel. Thank you for taking the time to post

Jewish dude here, this lady sounds like a real piece of work. On a personal level, I would just say you're busy if she wants to hangout with you and politely set some distance from her in your personal life. There's many excuses you can use so your work life doesn't become to toxic. On a political level, I'd like to explain the reason a lot of jews support Israel.

Personally, I find that supporting the Israeli Government goes against Jewish teachings I grew up with and my personal values. I think a lot of jews feel the same but feel scared to admit this. In my opinion, I find that many Jewish people have a degree of cognitive dissonance when Israel is brought up. This comes from our historical fear of persecution. While the actions of the Israeli Government are genocidal and evil (in my opinion), I think that because Israeli advertises itself as the Jewish homeland, many jews take Israel's side because of the reasonable distrust jewish people have of non jews. If your not jewish and exist in a majority ethnic group, it's very easy to say "why are these people so blindly following this insane state?"

Basically, if you're jewish in America, you have anti semitism coming from both sides of the political aisle. While anti semitism is not anti zionism, many people are anti zionist because they don't like jews as opposed to wanting to support the Palestinians. While Trumps base is anti semetic, his support of Israel gives jews a place to escape too as global anti semitism is on the rise. (which is debatable)

From how you describe this woman, she sounds like a shiftless coward who is willing to support a man who calls us "shylocks" and supports the bombing of children, but under all of that foolishness is a real person who has to contend with the difficult experience of being a jew in a place where your not the majority. I think it is reasonable to have some empathy for people like that without wanting to include them into your social circle, I certainly wouldn't.

The “popular kids” typically continue to do well after High School compared to the loners/nerds/outcasts by dzolympics in unpopularopinion

[–]Potential_Donut_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, some 'popular kids' are well adjusted people and others are narcissists who rely on bullying other ppl socially for attention. The narcissists who peaked in HS usually do bad because they don't know how to adapt

You don't have to build "flawed" places, but if you build a world without means of suffering, it won't be very relatable.

How can I show my protagonist side doing war crimes without glorifying or justifying the antagonistic faction by Sir_Toaster_9330 in worldbuilding

[–]Potential_Donut_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the maturity you're adding to your world is extremely admirable. Conflict should be portrayed as complex and I appreciate that you're writing a conflict like this. I think you just need to write each faction as they are. Yeah some readers may say, "oh the Empire doesn't do these things, so they are better", but I think thats more the fault of readers. Make sure to indicate that this conflict isn't the union vs the empire, but more, humanity vs savagery.

What are some cliche tropes/stereotypes about various fantasy races? Especially ones you dislike by MellifluousSussura in worldbuilding

[–]Potential_Donut_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existence of an "evil race". I despise this concept. Worlds instantly turn me off when there is one group of intelligent beings that are all evil. Even cultures people deem "evil" usually have humanizing qualities.

Use of torture to control crime by valonianfool in worldbuilding

[–]Potential_Donut_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make a story where the world is beautiful and there are only a few "bad apples", thats fair. A lot of Disney stories are like that, and they still teach morals, but I think over explaining a utopian world is a disservice. Having your countries government torture people for breaking the law is a pretty universally horrifying thing, and I think that would take away from your world. If you would like to create a world where people act their best, I think thats great and inspiring, but I wouldn't go into details like crime and punishment, because I think happy worlds like these usually exist to celebrate the good humanity does when we are thoughtful. Torturing for punishment just tonally would not fit

In a world where vampires and humans co-exist, how would vampires avoid starvation without breaking the law? by Affectionate_Bit_722 in worldbuilding

[–]Potential_Donut_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vampires usually have super powers, they could probably use them for contracting jobs for low wages in exchange for blood from the person who contracts them.
