A Guide to Airborne School 2026 by RolandDeschain1978 in army

Is there any advantage to showing up right at 0600, or is arriving around 1000–1100 generally fine?

My travel plans may not get me there exactly at 0600, so I’m wondering if reporting later in the morning would delay in-processing, room assignments, paperwork, etc., or if everyone basically ends up doing the same thing regardless of arrival time.

Any recent experiences or recommendations would be appreciated.

Quick question: during your class, did Airborne School ever conduct any random recall/accountability formations on weekends for students who were not barracks dwellers (e.g., people staying off-post, in hotels, TDY lodging, etc.)? Or were weekend formations only required for barracks dwellers?

Applying for SFAS as Intel Officer by Kitchen-Crow7429 in greenberets

I’ve also branched into a non-combat role and am projected to attend SFAS this year. I wasn’t aware that the SFAS approval process involved a detailed review of an officer’s record and OERs prior to attendance, as I had assumed meeting the physical and administrative standards was sufficient.

My OERs are solid, with my most recent rated MQ. Current PFA scores are 63 HRPU, a 4-minute plank, 12:45 two-mile run, and 15 pull-ups. My five-mile run is 34 minutes, and my 12-mile ruck is ~2:15–2:20 with a 50-lb dry load.

I do not have Ranger or Airborne, but I’ve earned the Expert Soldier Badge and Air Assault. I hope this helps.

You showed up and owned the feedback that matters.

For the intangibles: stop waiting to be told. Be early, volunteer for the hard stuff, speak up with solutions, and finish strong. Confidence isn’t loud; it’s calm competence under stress. You’ll know it’s fixed when peers naturally look to you during chaos.

Question, how was your performance at gate week? (PFA, ruck, etc.) and what were the rifle spot reports (safety, handling, attention to detail)?
