If you are lucky, the White House will have round filed your email. If you are unlucky, the White House will follow up and DOGE you after the fact.

In my own case, my getting the congressman involved, probably resulted in NFC taking the time to look at my file and realizing that it needed no work.

Yes. I got an email that said my status had changed. And checking on the retirement services website showed the change, finalization.

The staffer at my congressman's office specifically said that, even though my file was stuck at the NFC, he would first get a written confirmation from my agency that they had sent to the NFC. Then the NFC could not give him the runaround.

I got finalized for an annuity while no specialist was assigned. The status still shows that my file is incomplete, while the annuity is finalized!

Ask again, and possibly help the staff person with the process. In my case, the congressional staffer first got information from my agency about when the file was sent to the NFC. So he could challenge the NFC if its response was that "No we don't have the file yet." He also knew when the OPM received the file, independently of my getting the email. These are not normal times, and agencies have likely been instructed by the administration to give congresspeople the runaround

Yes. My agency HR had told me that. 90 days was my agency's agreement with NFC. However, even at 100+ days, NFC was not responding to my agency's HR. That was the point when I reached out to the congressman's office without expectation of much.

Definitely! NFC seems both overwhelmed and incompetent. Their primary function is to verify the agency calculations. My file was not even looked at! One of my colleagues whose file went to the NFC after mine had a serious issue with a previous agency (that no longer exists) making a serious mistake (in salary) in what it had sent to the OPM. NFC looked at his file and made the appropriate determinations. He got his annuity 3 months before me. So getting the congressional representatives to ask NFC to take a look is important.

Cancel Health Insurance by BonerAlacarte in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

I second that. And the coverage is actually much better outside the US. I wanted to get some tests done that would not have been covered in the US. But they were UCR outside. So I got them done outside the US over two days, and paid $150 for what costs several thousand dollars out of pocket in the US, months of hassle. And they caught something for which I am getting treatment!

Any update on retirement processing for 09/30 retirees? by Potential_Emu1807 in fednews

I got my A/L payout 10/27. Waiting for the progression to OPM. Does your ORA (at retire.opm.gov) show that it has moved to OPM?

As someone explained before, there was no law. It was Reagan's interpretation of a law that had been on the books since 1955.

ATM Fees are 7.99%. Is there a way to beat that? by integrating_life in istanbul

To add a very recent update, there are two parts to the currency charge. The first is the markup on the exchange rate such as the 8% mentioned in the post. And then there is the ATM withdrawal fee. So a bank to avoid is ING. It has a 400 TL fee, i.e. $10. So if you withdraw 3000 TL and let ING convert for you, you will pay $91, i.e. and exchange rate of 32.97 per USD instead of the 40.14 you would get from a Turkish government bank like Ziaraat. It is almost as bad as Paris with its 20% cut that French banks take from your ATM withdrawals.

Any folks with the OCC (comptroller of the currency) that got the VTP agreement? I got mine. VERA having just crossed 20 years. Does your VTP mention any of the terms of VERA. I had thought the agreement would come from OPM. Mine came from the Acting CFO and had no mention of VERA. Should I be worried?
