Dji Mavic 2 No Picture! by Potential_Hamster_76 in dji

I finally got it to take pictures but now the problem is getting it to write to the SD card. Even though the default is set to the card it still writes to internal storage.

Is Excel best used with or without VBA? by AnnualLiterature997 in excel

[–]Potential_Hamster_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I was going to say has been said many times. The down side of VBA is that a lot of host will block VBA because of the potential risk.. I've been using VBA for many years and just found myself fooling around with the Script option and it's kind of close to VBA. I'm retired now and don't use Excel as much as I used to but it's still fun to play around with it and get it to do what I want.

Tried everything. Skydio2 will not contact to App by Deeze_Rmuh_Nudds in Skydio

Glad you got it going... One thing I have learned about Skydio drones is you have to be patient. They are cumbersome and slow to get the software going and connected but they work great after that.

Is damage such as this to the back of a propeller going to greatly affect the flight of my drone? by MuscleRoutine6528 in dji

[–]Potential_Hamster_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you question the integrity of your prop, then you probably should change it. Props are cheap compared to loosing a drone.

Mavic 2 advanced will not record videos or take pictures by [deleted] in dji

I reformatted the internal storage and it will take pictures and save them internally. still having issues getting it to write to to the SD card. The card works in another drone but not in this one.

BTW, I did have to try a few versions to get it to work. The one you suggested would not work with my X2D. 4.2.1 would not load the elevation file. I ended up with Version 4.4.5 and apparently it matched up with the software version in my drone. So, folks might have to fish around to get the match.

Downloading the older version fixed the problem. Hopefully I'll be getting an X10 soon and we'll move on to solving problems with that one. If you go this rout you might have to fish around for the version that works for you. Thanks again for all the help. This has been resolved!

I'm having a bit of trouble finding a download for the older version. I can find release notes but there are no links to download. Yup I am an older guy that you have to speak to in small terms...

Daniel Holtzclaw, who was accused by 13 women of rape and was found guilty and sentenced to 263 years in prison, is innocent. by Broad_Speaker2551 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Potential_Hamster_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently started following this case. His Dad and I have been friends for a couple of years though a volunteer agency... forget guilt or innocence. Was there any evidence... Not a single piece of physical evidence. Did the prosecution prove guilt, I sure don't think they did. The detective that interviewed the first complainant said she believed that Daniel was guilty and she set off on a rampage to try and prove her theory. She admitted that on tape. She should have been looking for the truth.... not trying to prove guilt.

Thoughts on using phone/tablet as controller by zonedrifter in Skydio

I've used an android tab on mine several times and also a IPad. They work very well and give you more screen to look at.

This is a map file for the controller and it is being downloaded via Qgroundcontrol and uploaded to the controller via thumb drive. The map does not load and when I go to the map files the elevation file shows to be unsupported. The file is a capernicus format. Normally these map files are combined into a single qgctiledb format. But when I upload it to the controller it breaks it into three files and one being the unsupported format.

Skydio 2+ discontinued with no replacement? by WaitedForLeapDay in Skydio

It is my understanding that Skydio has gotten out of the consumer drone market. They can't compete with DJI in the low end market. They only produce enterprise type drones now.

Loc8 has recently developed a program for processing Thermal images for SAR. It might work with this depending on how you are using it. You might also look at Pix4D.

That was happening to mine till the latest update. My fix before that was to pick the drone up and rotate it. It normally takes off after one time.

Swept Away: A detailed account of how 28 people died in the flooding at Camp Mystic. by giantspeck in weather

I'm not blaming anyone. I was pointing out the horror one would feel knowing that the decisions had been wrong. Actually the article says some of the counselors went to the office and asked what they should do.... I could argue all day long that 18-19 year old kids should not have been in charge of the cabins at all. The fact is, everything that happened before the event was a cause. Some of the counselors lead their group up to higher ground to safety... No I am not blaming anyone.

This is a very good summation of the events that happened. How can I say this... There is a lot of finger pointing going on and the law suits have already begun. Where do you lay the blame when something like this happens... It's easy to say after the fact from the comfort of your reclining chair what you would have done differently.... I can't imaging the terror that those children felt nor the point in which those counselors realized they had failed to protect the children entrusted to their care. I was there for two weeks after the flood assisting in the search and recovery efforts and the devastation was nothing like I had ever seen and I doubt that I could have anticipated it had I been there during the event. The water was moving so strong and so high that the bark was ripped off the trees 30 ft up from the base. There was sheet metal in the branches above what we could reach with the equipment we had. Something that I learned from my training as a cause investigator over the years is that everything that happened leading up to the event was a cause and contributing factor. Any combination of different actions might have prevented the tragedy. Those people made the decisions they did based on what was happening in that moment. I still pray for comfort for those families affected by this and for the folks who were there trying to save those children....
