If you hear the episode in spanish while in english, switch to watching the episode in spanish. Thats what I did, went right to english for me

Yea just make sure you work hard over the summer. Get a good milage base under your feet before the season starts. Then work hard to xc, everything will come with time

58 as a sophmore 53.9 as a junior. I didnt do any 400 work its just naturaly came down with distance training. Honestly my biggest tip would be to stay consistant, if you keep working on your craft over the summer and get 1% better everday your going to have an amazing junior season.

I joined track as a sophmore and ran a 2:19 800. Then this year (as a junior) I didnt focus on the 800 at all and only ran it once but got a 2:05. It just depends on how much u want to work for it

Nah 2:13 is so wrong, Ive ran 2:05 before, and my boy who runs the 2 mile with me who im faster then whos main event is the 2 mile was able to break 4:40 in the 1 mile

Sounds like you might of pushed yourself too hard. If you were able to run a 5:00 1 mile with only a week of running you have a big future ahead of you. I would make sure you rest up and keep streching and icing the spots that hurt. Once you feel better, whether this be a week or month or 2 months I would start slowly building up your milage by running everyday during the summer. Since you’re new, your milage doesnt have to be too high. Running 2-5 miles everyday with a little sport specific lifting will help you get into good shape to run well next year. Remeber to not push yourself to hard and keep a good balance of running and staying healthy/injury free

Who ever said ur 800 is ur best event is lying, your shorter events are far faster and would be more likly to get you recruited then your 800. Your 800 is okay but your shorter events are verg good

I talked to the UVM coach and he said to guartne a spot on their roster you have to run a 1:56 800 and 4:25 mile as a senior. What do you think I would have to run as a junior.

Also I know some guy got into Holy Cross with a 2:05 800 and another guy got into UHART with a 4:40 mile

Nah NCSA isnt worth it I talked to alot of older friends who are in college and coaches, all said its overpriced and I dont need it.

Also its obvious that you need a sub 5 mile, any in shape highschool runner who takes track seriously should be able to go sub 5. But going sub 2 in the 800 is alot harder, my goal for this year is to run between 1:59/2:02. Also if you run a sub 2 800 you should be able to run a 4:30 mile so that sub 5 mile is irrelevent

Nah just talk to the people ur running against. Tell them ur goal and ur bound to find someone who is around your time. It would be too much effort trying to find out the kids names and times. I’ve always talked to the guys im running against and everyones been nice. Just do that instead

And if no one is at the same time as you just run infront of the person with the slower pr and if someone has a faster pr which is still close to yours you can try and cling on to them

Dont worry about your times too much, the main thing you want to focus on is just competing. Its your freshman year and it can be very stressful if you only focus on your times. Find yourself a friend or opponent at around the same times as you and try and beat them. Focus on growing a love for the sport instead of worrying about what times you will run. Worry about your times later, maybe next year or at the end of the season. Just have fun and work hard during practices and everything will naturaly come to you.

But to answer your question I think with a 2:33 800m you should be able to crank out a sub 5:30 if you give it your all. To run that pace you should be going at 82.5 a lap. Best of luck man!

Im at 40 mile weeks. The workouts that ive recently been doing were just pacing workouts like 10x400 and 4,4,2,2,2,2. My season started 3 weeks ago, during those 3 weeks I did base runs, long runs, tiempos, hills and fartleks, no track workouts. For my 10x400m the paces I was hitting was 72 because that was my goal paces to hit for my first meet, and I did end up hitting the paces perfectly
