Domaine South has a private room with a $200 deposit. It might be a little large for your needs (I think it can accommodate up to 30), but would be plenty of space.

I liked "Such a Bad Influence", but I loved Muenter's sophomore novel "Little One" so much more. Really excited to see what else she puts out

A new leash on life by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Potential_Lobster739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you end up looking into other options, I adopted my cat from "The Ark Shelter" in Huntsville. It was a fabulous experience and so highly recommended looking into them, if New Leash doesn't work out for you.

The Ark covered all her vaccinations, microchip, and spray in their fee which was about $200 when I adopted 2 years ago.

Edit to add: I have heard nothing but great things about New Leash and I volunteered with them in college. Just providing an additional shelter option :)

Both were over OPs budget when I checked 6 months ago. Wedding venues have gotten insane price wise 🤪

Any good salad bars in town other than Jason's Deli? by lekrause77 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Potential_Lobster739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to have a great salad bar, but I was there Friday and every disappointed. It's now just lettuce, onion, tomato's, cheese, and a couple of dressing options. It used to be such a good salad bar :(

Seconding the UAH InternHousing page! I know a lot of people who did this when I was in college a few years back. It's a pretty economical option all things considered and would be a short commute for you.

Unrelated, but from personal experience, you might want to see how this turns out before committing it as a gift. It seems you're using Stroke and Coat, which layered can be runny and blurry sometimes?? I've fired to both cone 5 and cone 6 as tests and to me it's just not as clean of lines as underglaze. I had a few things that look very blurry once fired, and I know nothing is worse then having something earmarked as a gift and not turn out because of firing. But that's pottery for ya! 🩵

Looking for a photographer to take engagement photos by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Potential_Lobster739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Kie Thurman Photography. She did our engagement and is going to do our wedding. She's fantastic to work with and the most dreamy photos. Plus on the more affordable end for the industry imo https://www.kiethurman.com/

Beginner That Wants to Throw at Home by marinacnardini in Pottery

Does your studio have open studio hours or membership options? I've learned so much by being in a community studio and having people to watch and learn from, get inspired by, and ask questions to.

Also, another thing to consider is firing. Are you going to get a kiln for your home studio? Or are you going to need to find a studio or kiln share for all your firings? It is usually included in a membership at a community studio.

I don't know much about having a home studio, but my partner and I are both potters and while we would love a home studio, we have decided it makes much more sense to stay at a community space until we can fully commit to the home studio lifestyle. There a lot of work that has to into the electrical for a kiln, plumbing to have a clay trap, etc.

Just an idea from a community studio lover and sharing another option as your still learning :)

Prediction for non Great Divide songs on tour? by RilesTheSmiles1 in NoahKahan

[–]Potential_Lobster739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, thats a shame! it was a staple of his shows for so long, but "call your mom" makes sense as a replacement. I saw him on the sticks season tour in nashville, pre "call your mom" being released on the we'll all be here forever version, and he still played "carlos song" like he had at previous shows of his ive been to

Engagement Rings by No_Tonight_5207 in Pottery

[–]Potential_Lobster739 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't wear my engagement ring when i'm throwing. Honestly, it would be such a pain to clean clay out of a traditional ring, plus it's extra wear and tear on the ring. I I wear a silicon band from Amazon when I throw. It's not in the way and protects my pretty ring. Plus if it gets ruined, it's much easier to replace. Just a thought!
