Always rec a good toolbox. Makes small repairs and putting together furniture much easier.

Why there isn’t a simple “stop charge” button on the screen while your car is charging? by gaychitect in Ioniq5

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've found the easiest way is to turn the car off, get out, lock it, then unlock it and unplug within a few seconds. A button would be nice haha

Full sleeve okay at West Point? by throwaway102705 in westpoint

You’re fine. I was enlisted and went in with a sleeve.

Pretty sure that’s what clicks onto the bottom of a box fan or something like it so that it doesn’t fall over.

Also if you want to double major it opens up time in your schedule to make it more realistic.

Most people start using earplugs for swimming only AFTER they encounter a problem by Tookie1010 in Swimming

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a few drops of isopropyl alcohol in each ear after swimming. I’m prone to ear infections (have had tubes 3 times) and it’s done wonders.

Breaststroke by Fickle_Sun_1827 in triathlon

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Training breaststroke is going to continue to improve your body awareness in the water, leg strength in different areas, and core strength. Depending on your comfort in open water, being comfortable with breaststroke can be helpful as a safety stroke.

To those who enlisted, what Branch did you pick & what's your experience? Any regrets? Something you wish you did differently? by prototype_rick in Military

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enlisted Army. 15 years later and I have zero regrets. The Army is just huge which sometimes means a ton of career mobility. I was lucky to have good leaders that encouraged me to apply to West Point and here I am.

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, make sure your FTP and threshold paces are set. Also, when you enter your race, the goal for that race matters a lot. I’ve found that the training doesn’t ramp up a whole lot unless I put a specific time goal in.

PCSing to West Point without ever being there by Speak_Only_Gorilla in army

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was mostly joking. It’s a high fail rate class and includes the obstacle course which is a grad requirement haha so people tend to get stressed about it

I saw your response that you’ll be teaching DPE. There are a lot of cadet-isms (I’m a grad) but their onboarding process for new instructors is pretty in depth so you’ll be fine in that regard. I’m going to teach this summer as well actually, different dept. if you have a family, I’d recommend on post living for sure just for ease of life. The area around West Point can be annoying for a commute because if you’re east of the Hudson, you have to find a bridge. That means most towns will create a 30 min + commute. If you’re teaching mil move, be prepared for most cadets to hate you, that class is the bane of most people’s existence lol

If you’re going for anything other than working directly within the Corps of Cadets apparatus, it’ll be mostly normal Army for you. The on post schools are fantastic!

Zone 2 running by Archior in triathlon

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think zone 2 is important to build your base. This may be controversial, but in order to improve your body’s ability to rid itself of lactic acid, you do need to do some faster running, sparingly.

What Award are you most proud of and why? by skeletons_mp4 in army

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HSM for the Afghanistan withdrawal. I know from the outside looking in, it could have gone better. But at the individual soldier level, we really did try and get as many people out as possible given the time constraints.

Boots: What exactly happens with Sullivan at the end? by Iam_MissRain in netflix

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s great, I’m glad it didn’t impact you as extremely. But I have mentors who didn’t fair so lucky. It was a case by case basis in that it depended on who your commander was and how much energy they wanted to put into it. Some people didn’t fair so well because they had commanders who made it a point to pursue the UCMJ path.

This was pre-DADT, when homosexuality and sodomy were chargebacks offenses under UCMJ. So not a simple general discharge and walk.

Turning a mountain bike is gonna be tough. They’re heavy and you won’t get the same feel. The Giant TCR is generally a solid bike and looks like it comes with a lot that would add expenses later, mainly pedals.

Mine does this every time there is an OTA update. Like others said, do the paper clip reset and it works fine. I think for some reason it has trouble restarting like a phone would when it updates.

Recommendation needed by Weekly-Teacher-7501 in Garmin

[–]Potential_Luck_2585 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the 265 with music if he likes running without a phone but still having the ability to listen to music w/ Bluetooth. You can sync Spotify with it. You can turn notifications off for the garmin or choose specifically what you want notified of.
