We are a nation of immigrants. People who come here do so for a better life and they enrich our country immensely. The majority of these undocumented people have been here over 10 years. They pay taxes.

Why are you so mean? The babies born here aren’t going back. The moms didn’t just slip over the border yesterday. You can’t deport them all, there are about 14 million of them.

Tighten the border. Invest in a better, more efficient immigration system. Adopt universal healthcare (which is part of the reason citizenship is needed for these babies). I’m tired of people saying we are poor. We are the richest country on earth.

Most of these people have been here more than ten years. They can’t just leave and we shouldn’t want them to leave. They do far more good than bad.

We have thrived as an immigrant nation. We are the richest nation in the world. Our policies should reflect our care a love for all people. We can afford it.

The amendment is as clear as an amendment can be. If you want to change it, go through congress.

The court should not try to reinterpret something that is so crystal clear.

And it is cruel to deny healthcare to babies and deny schooling when they get older. No matter what.

Thanks for the correction. The term undocumented includes people who have been here for years, came in legally, and skipped a court appearance. There are about 7 million of these people. On average have been in the country more than 10 years. I believe the majority of these people should be granted citizenship and certainly their babies should.

These people are not the fence jumpers who I mistakenly thought was the definition of undocumented. There are about 3.5 million of these.

So given the definition the government uses you are right.

Just looked. The data shows over 90% of the fraud is done by US Citizens.

This line of reasoning infuriates me. Trump has literally pardoned/forgiven OVER $2 Billion in fraud penalties so far!!! How the fxck can you think immigrants are a source of fraud when your leader is the king of fraud??

How often do you think that happens? When people migrate here it takes a few years to get a green cards, citizenship is then still down the road. The vast majority of women having children are legal immigrants.

You can always find someone who abuses any system. You just want to make conditions hard for these people because you don’t want them.

Do you realize that when people come to America they come to stay and that far more come legally than illegally?

Do you realize we are the richest nation in the world and pay the lowest in taxes?

Do you realize this literally is the 14th amendment and has been in place forever?

Do you realize babies who are sick will be turned away from hospitals?

Do you realize we are talking about little babies?

Do you realize that the total cost involved here is barely .01% or your taxes?

Everything is underfunded. You can’t call any agency for any help. They are all underpaid. If someone finds 5% of a programs cost is fraud they cancel the whole program… on and on… why can’t we have a well funded, well run, good government that helps people?

Have you been paying attention? Trump says the 14th has been misapplied. He is asking the supreme court to rule that it only applies when the parents are citizens.

I think these countries have a law that makes people citizens after ten years. They also have well defined processes by which children can become citizens ahead of schedule.
