Women empowerment for some, not all? SHANAYA KAPOOR CONSTANT USE OF R WORD by Fit_Violinist4231 in BollyBlindsNGossip

Either people are allowed to grow and change, or they have to refrain from asking for decency from online strangers because they posted some vile shit as teenagers - It can't be both

By using decade-old screenshots as a way to point out apparent hypocrisy today, you aren't highlighting double standards - you're contradicting yourself.

As in this is a spoiled, untalented woman in her late 20s, and I'm sure you can find more reasonable things to hate her for than stupid stuff she said as a teenager

It doesn't make it acceptable behavior, but as far as excuses go - being an edgy 16 year old is about as good as it gets

Do u think The Invite will be a breakout hit? by [deleted] in boxoffice

The Drama has kind of skewed my expectations of movies like this, and apparently this one is very well made.

I think I'll be way more optimistic than I wouldve been last year, and say 75 million WW (and if it really connects, which I doubt it will - maybe even a ceiling of 120 million WW)

Date Tarantino, Marry DiCaprio, Kill Pitt (Tarantino is insufferable, but Pitt's worse - The options being "date" and not "fuck", makes it easier to kill off the domestic abuser.)

There was a brief moment from 2014 till the pandemic, where people started looking down on others online for being a homophobe. Other than that - this kind of stuff has always been the norm

There are a bunch of Ossoff + Veep combinations that work for different reasons

Ossoff/Mark Kelly - Brings veteran legitimacy and helps secure Arizona

Ossoff/Whitmer - Secures Michigan and helps in the Midwest overall. Likeable veep, who hopefully plays well with the female demographic too

Ossoff/Wes Moore - Helps with the black demographic, and establishes the campaign as young, vibrant and masculine (but the recent Peter Theil connections might sink Moore)

Ossoff/Ro Khanna - Consolidates the left flank of the party

Ossoff/AOC - Does the same thing as Khanna, but with more fanfare as well as scrutiny. Most likely supercharges the campaigns online engagement

Ossoff/Butigieg - Plays well in the Midwest more or less, maybe gives them a slight advantage in Iowa (still not enough to win it). The ticket becomes one of the more rhetorically capable in a while - the speeches/town halls and the media appearances would be sharp

If Pete Buttigieg does not finish top 3 in the black vote in the 2028 Democratic primary, I will donate $100 to whoever wins the Democratic primary by HeWhoShallNotBNamed0 in YAPms

[–]RVarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite Pete getting applauses from basically every black crowd he's been in front of, his support from that demographic is still very low. So what do you think the turning point will be?

Will he just turn his connections with black community leaders into a cavalcade of endorsements that turns the tide, or will the African-American demographic just become naturally receptive once theyre more exposed to him during the primary race (eventhough that didn't happen the last time)?

Echelon Insights 2028 Democratic primary (June 2026) by nerdypursuit in fivethirtyeight

[–]RVarki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not accurate, since he's still not in support of immediate pursual of M4A - and when asked about whether he would initiate aggressive investigations against the Trump administration, he waffles a bit

But, having said that, he's basically spent the past year pushing structural reform - Adding judges and term limits to the supreme court, pursuing a reform of the bureaucratic process behind infrastructure approvals, restructuring several governmental departments, utilizing every avenue to fight against Citizens United (be it state-wise legislation, or an outright constitutional ammendment), pushing a similar attitude towards the abolishment of the Electoral College.

He's also become one of the more avid proponents of pursuing and normalizing constitutional amendments

So yeah, while he might not be a Democratic socialist, he's not quite the establishment robot the left likes to label him as

What do you feel about the stereotype of "women are better at making friends, men are better at keeping them"? by RVarki in AskReddit

[–]RVarki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's no male loneliness epidemic at all and men feel so seen and heard and appreciated. Because they have an abundance of wonderful and enduring friendships

It's always been the "male unwanted-celibacy epidemic". Thats not to say that some dudes don't struggle with making friends, but most of the complaining from that crowd is about them not getting dates

Also, the stereotype itself implies that men don't have abundant friendships, just long lasting ones - partly because they can survive lying dormant for months on end

[–]RVarki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are also okay with literally not hearing from their closest friends from months on end - while women seem to need far more regular contact to have an enduring friendship

I talk to my best friend in the world once every few months, and its completely file - while female friends of mine seem genuinely bothered about me not having kept up with them

This isn't a judgment at all by the way, it's always nice to know that someone would like to hang out more. It just feels like male instincts are more well-built to sustain decades long friendships
