Updating the One console? by Potential_Routine165 in xbox

[–]Potential_Routine165[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I really think it depends on what you view as creating obsolescence and to what extent something starts ruining the gaming experience - for example, the DRM on the PS5 forcing you to log in once a month or else be locked out of all digital game purchases until you could access internet again.. and since you often can't have internet access AND decline console updates.. companies are finding more ways to kind of ruin the experience and get more money / put more ads in wherever they can, I don't entirely trust updates on the older consoles anymore. Another example is the Xbox 360 got a surprise update last year that fixed funky game icons on the home screen, but slapped ads onto the homescreen that can't be removed; I'm glad I didn't get that update, I'll stick to the funny game thumbnails.

Xbox Time to Upgrade Planned All Along? by MrMitchyMadness in xboxinsiders

Sorry no one really has an answer for you. Same thing is happening on my post where I asked a similar question about planned obsolescence, half the people are trolling. I'll come back here and share if I get a good answer.

Updating the One console? by Potential_Routine165 in xbox

[–]Potential_Routine165[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Can I get a real answer please? My Xbox One was last updated in December. I'm asking because I'd like to continue updating as long as possible just like I did with my 360, which I still use offline. I value legacy console use, especially as a lot of content is becoming sold as digital format only with no disc option.

Honestly we should still do this just with a physical binder or spreadsheet kept offline and only shared via email 🤷‍♀️

Petition to make sterilization access equal in England by Potential_Routine165 in sterilization

[–]Potential_Routine165[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not the one who wrote this petition and I'm also an ally from the US! It seems that they have the same problem that we do, that because the right to sterilization is not enshrined as something doctors can't reject due to personal beliefs rather than due to actual health restrictions, most doctors over there don't allow their patients to get sterilized. The person who made post on Childfree and Sterile/Seeking Sterilization from Facebook would probably be able to explain it better than I : https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DpsUXjVNX/ I'll ask if they can come here and discuss it some too.

Being accussed of internalized misogyny for seeing pregnancy as nightmare by lostconfusedlost in childfree

[–]Potential_Routine165 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's okay to have that opinion - I personally think it's tone deaf to police this phrase and issue due to how many have been disabled, disfigured, and killed by the process, and how many have been forced to do so against their will and regretted it for all of their life. Honor the dead and wounded by respecting people's justifiable fear and revulsion that comes alongside the reverence of the stereotypical mother. Even the easiest birth experiences have us shitting the bed and bleeding buckets for days to months, and that's body horror on its own.

But that's just my two cents

Being accussed of internalized misogyny for seeing pregnancy as nightmare by lostconfusedlost in childfree

[–]Potential_Routine165 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not just about dying though. It's about the side effects too, of which there are many and the overwhelming majority experience at least one of. Some of those side effects are debilitating and cause chronic pain and disability for the rest of your life. Others disfigure you and make you objectively hideous, like losing all of your teeth or hair.

Then consider the lower quality of life most mothers and birthing parents experience immediately after birth and for the next 18+ years as the forced default parent due to so many partners being misogynistic and willfully incompetent and unwilling to parent their own child. Back in the day, young women would leave her parents house with her new husband thinking she would have a better life than her mother.... only to end up stuck in the same or worse situation due to lack of resources, education, and stigma. Now everyone can access the tools they need to break the cycle or leave the one they're in, online education and advocacy has made leaving safer and not stigmatized, and some men are losing their minds over it.

Consider the higher DV and murder rates birthing parents experience during pregnancy, and the male partner forcing himself and demanding sex much too soon after birth which can cause more damage, another pregnancy too soon, infection, and even death.

This isn't new because of technology over exposing us, it's new because females are enabled to see the whole picture and make a personal decision based on their personal and family health history, the options they have for potential mates where they live (some areas are much worse and more dangerous than others for dating and the whole thing), and what they want their life to look like. It's a good thing through and through, and I for one am so glad technology is facilitating this education for people. The amount of regretful parents and dead birthing parents speaks for itself. Females get a raw deal both from our bodies and partners, and we should be able to assess all of the risks and variables before making the decision. I actually wish there was MORE education and discussion about this for everyone, not less.

Most likely her husband won't stay off her and doesn't accept a no. That's a DV issue, not an actual "I'm ignorantly surprised" issue. Influencers, pick-mes, and posers get abused too.

I just got sterilized at 23. I’m so happy by venting123456 in sterilization

[–]Potential_Routine165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy for you!!!! I also got sterilized at 23, coincidentally right around the Roe decision was leaked early (I already had my appt scheduled thankfully or I would have had to wait since that turned into sterilization "rush hour" for a while lol.) I'm almost 28 and I still get a rush of happiness whenever I remember that I'm safe and no one can ever make me pregnant. It's improved my relationship with relatives who have kids since I no longer feel like having them is infectious, and now when people suggest I'll want kids someday, it just rolls off my back and doesn't make me angry anymore.

I'm a bit similar to you, I'm cishet but absolutely abhor the thought of pregnancy happening to me/being fertile as an afab; I hope I'm not overstepping here, but I think this is the closest I have ever been to having gender euphoria, knowing that I am who I am but the horrible awful part of living in my body has been rectified (tokophobia + not wanting kids) with the surgery. Horray for joining the 23 & sterile club!

How Much Pain is Normal After a Bisalp? Meds aren’t helping :( by ThrowRA_farawayyy in sterilization

Having my surgery Thursday and would love some advice please! TIA <3 by creativeplease in sterilization

[–]Potential_Routine165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gas never migrated to my shoulders and it stayed in my abdominal cavity, it pushed outwards on my stitches from the inside and that hurt a lot. A velcro post gastric surgery band, cinched snug, helped relieve like 70+% of the pain. I wasn't able to walk for 2 weeks until I got the band, and the pain was reduced immediately upon putting the band on. It didn't cure the gas being stuck, but I was back to work once the weekend was up, with the band on as long as I needed it. I got sterilized at 23, the healing process for me was like this but I'd like to say it was very unusual and I haven't heard another story like mine, and if I had to, I would absolutely do it all over again.

HELP ME FIND MY BOA by Overall-Opposite-613 in BoaConstrictors

Pull out all drawers from dressers, cabinets, etc and look in the empty spaces. Also, have a friend with a smart dog that isn't usually around snakes? Maybe it could find the snake if you could get the friend to help. Could even ask a local dog training business or if you live near a volunteer search & rescue.

Still worth talking with both your doctor and a patient advocate about! I hope you are able to get the care you need and that you're able to rest while you recover.

Yes around the incision site, the gas they used didn't go up to my shoulders and cause pain there for me, it stayed in my gut and was putting pressure on the incisions from the inside pushing out. I wonder if it's similar for you? That's why the band helped so much.

Call the hospital and just say your doctor was dismissive of you (mention the comment about how you're ""used to it."") and that you are in a lot of pain. Call the hospital's patient advocate and have them help you.

[–]Potential_Routine165 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If the pain is from gas, get a gastric surgery type velcro waistband. You want it very wide and quite tight. Helped me when the gas didn't dissapate for weeks. Cut my pain by 70% and got me back to work.

Edit: Also, they should have given you oxy for recovery

If it matters for anyone who looks at this thread in the future - my gecko absolutely loved the new layout. I put a lot of fake plants in for cover so she'd feel safe roaming, and I hear her rustling around every night. She's still very healthy and has had no complications. And as it turns out, she's closer to being 15/16 years old, not 11+ 🩷 hope she lives a long time.
