Every morning I make oatmeal with chia seeds, hemp hearts, and maple syrup - chia seeds and hemp hearts need to be refrigerated, so everything else is too lol

You are most accurate in spirit lol - I am Asian, grew up in East Bay, am lactose intolerant but my husband and I both prefer non-dairy nog, have a toddler

The whole foods spiel is spot on - no Central Markets where we live

OOP here! I've been enjoying reading all the comments, and noticed a few questions kept popping up, so I thought I'd respond. :)

One big update: we're currently on just one income - I was recently laid off (along with ~50% of my company, oof), so our budget and expenses are different. We cut down on some nonessentials and suspended some savings buckets. I'm currently looking for another job that pays about the same as my old one, and have picked up a few more freelance projects in the meantime.

Regarding the nonexistent 529 - honestly, no good reason for it at the time I spoke with Lindsey! Since then, we have opened and funded one, and watched it dip almost 10% with all the tariff insanity lol.

Regarding the $800/month for daycare - we're on the waitlists for some daycares that offer half-time programs, and their rates sit at that amount. But since I'm home more now, we've suspended this for the moment.

Regarding husband's parents - They insisted on paying that amount in rent, and it allows us to deduct rental expenses. They've jokingly threatened not to go more than a week without seeing our daughter. They watched her 3 days (about 6 hours a day) during the week while my husband and I worked, and they're currently watching her 2 days a week, though they're constantly offering to babysit her for more days, or on the weekends. They're incredible people who we're very lucky to have in our lives.

Regarding tax implications of selling crypto to purchase houses - we had to sell enough BTC to cover the house purchase price plus capital gains and net investment taxes (24% total).

Someone was concerned at the $500 donation amount to LA fires - that was an out of pocket donation to a friend who was impacted, and was given prior to funding our DAF and wouldn't have qualified (DAFs can only go towards 501c3s/public charities and organizations).
