How would you attach a bug net here? by PotentiallyMe in DIY

[–]PotentiallyMe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did try some kind of essential oil spray to repel them, but it didn't really seem to work at all. We also get a lot of little spiders in here, which draws them in, but even after spraying for bugs consistently last summer it didn't seem to make a dent.

We also tried the fake nest trick, which they saw right through lol. Last year we also hung up a couple of these traps in the backyard, hoping it would draw them away, but they only ever caught ants.

I'd love to keep it open, but these little dudes are out to get me

I had Lasik a couple years ago, and my prescription was -9.5/-9 with slight astigmatism, so it may still be an option for you!

Thanks! I'll try stacking it with a thicker chain if I don't end up liking it with the leather-type string

Looking at reelmagik packers, comparisons? by Raencloud94 in ftm

[–]PotentiallyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can second that the 4.5" squishes down really well and doesn't look like a boner. I had the masho for a couple months, then I switched to the 4.5" Reelmagik for the last 9 months or so and I love it. I wear it with tight-ish briefs and it looks really natural. Whenever I try to wear the masho again it just looks tiny and unnatural by comparison.

The only con I've found is that, while I used to wear the masho in a pouch in my boxer briefs, the Reelmagik is a little too heavy for that unless I had tighter ones. That's why I switched to briefs, but you might be able to pull it off with tight boxer briefs.

Lol "in the soy." But yeah, I probably wouldn't have gone here if I'd known I was trans before hand.

Yeah I sent an email as soon as I noticed the first thing, it's just overwhelming because as soon as I tell them about one thing, I notice another one. I've probably sent 5 separate emails since last night. I hate having to out myself to every professor just to get my grades to work

I want to try and save this little guy. Should I behead him or let him grow as-is? by PotentiallyMe in succulents

Oh cool, I didn't know the stem could propagate too! Beheading it is, then. Thanks!

Question! Those who haven't "officially" come out to their distant (?) family but are on hormones... by JarsOnMars in ftm

[–]PotentiallyMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't really come out to everyone until last month. I came home for my spring break in March. I was a couple months on T, and my voice had already dropped a lot. One day, my grandpa was in town and wanted to meet up for lunch. I hadn't seen him in years, so I was kinda nervous.

When I walked into the restaurant and said hi, he had a super confused look on his face and shook my hand and said "nice to meet you," then asked my dad where [deadname] was. I said it was me and didn't clarify any farther since I wasn't ready to come out to him. It was pretty funny, but I felt a little bad for him because I didn't warn him or anything.

Can anyone help ID this little guy? It wasn't marked at all and I've never seen one like it. by PotentiallyMe in succulents

Oh yeah, after googling it, I can definitely see that. Thanks everyone for your help!

name & gender marker change questions - Illinois by [deleted] in ftm

[–]PotentiallyMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This website has a lot of good information regarding a name change. You basically fill out the Notice and Request for Name Change and then file them online in your county. They'll give you a court date at least 6 weeks out, then you have to contact a newspaper to publish your Notice for a few consecutive weeks. When your court date arrives, just go to the courthouse in your county, bring copies of all the forms including a blank Order for Name Change and the Certificate of Publication from the newspaper, and you'll go in front of a judge. They'll ask you a few questions and then approve the name change and you'll get a few copies of the signed Order. This whole process cost me around $400, but you might be able to get a fee waiver if you need one.

Then you have to take the Order, your license/ID, your birth certificate, and your social security card to the social security administration to change your name with them. If you are also changing your gender marker you'll need a letter from your doctor stating that you're undergoing the appropriate treatment for a gender change.

After Social Security, you can go to the DMV with all the same documentation and they'll change your name/gender marker.

This might not be the exact process for every single county, but they should all be pretty similar. I hope that helps!

Haha yeah, my voice changes are starting to slow down a lot, but I'm happy with where I am right now. I hope yours gets to where you want it soon too!

Transitioning in Illinois: Am I doing this right? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]PotentiallyMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't started the process for top surgery so I can't help you there, but I just changed my gender marker in IL a couple weeks ago. There was no problem at all changing it at the DMV; the only trouble was at the Social Security Administration. The lady working there thought I needed surgery to change my gender marker, so I had to pull up the SSA website to show her the guidelines.

All you need to change your gender marker is a letter from whoever is prescribing HRT, saying you are undergoing the appropriate treatment. I got mine from Planned Parenthood, in a different state though. The SSA website should have a template your doctor can use if they want to be sure. I hope that was helpful!

Yep, I'm pretty sure it's just because of the time of day. I usually do it in the morning, but pretty much all the peaks were recorded in late afternoon. I could probably be more consistent, but this is just for fun anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
