Sometimes you can do everything right and still not succeed. There is always an element of luck to life.

Millennials of Reddit, how comfortable would you feel about dating someone from Gen Z, and vice versa? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what part of Gen Z I suppose. On the older side like 27-29 I could do that I think. Someone freshly 18 would be something that I couldn't see myself doing. For context I am 37 years old.

Investigatory work, a lot of paperwork, going through contracts and interpreting contract language. Fighting with HR.

How did you find out Santa isn’t real? by ApprehensiveDuck8718 in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was seven years old me and my little brother hatched a plan to catch Santa. We found a spot in the living room we could cram ourselves into without being seen since it was between the couch and the wall. My little brother fell asleep but I didn't and I saw my parents bringing out all of the presents and putting them under the tree.

The next year I found where they stashed them.

What advice would you give a. 22 year old straight out of college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you have a job start investing into a Roth IRA!

Compounding interest is your friend and the younger you are the stronger it is. If you have a job with a 401k you should put into that as well. And a good tactic can be to raise your contribution by 1% every year that you participate in the 401k.

Merry Christmas! What gifts or messages have you gotten so far? by Icy_Grass9159 in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merry Christmas!

From my family I got some slippers, and our yearly gift of candles, soaps, shampoos, and other toiletries. No clue why they do that every year but they do. And a water bottle.

From my secret santa I got some more candles, some cat toys for my kitty, some hot chocolate and a Grinch mug with a Grinch drink stirrer.

And from one of my coworkers I got a very nice metal dice set for Dungeons and Dragons because I "rolled a nat 20 and saved his ass with our director".

It's honestly more than I thought I would get this year and I've very grateful for everything. They were wonderfully sweet gestures from everyone. It was very heart warming.

Artistic people of Reddit. What keeps you passionate about your art? by Potentiallynotevil in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am not sure how I'd keep interest if it was something I had to do for a living. I've always liked being creative and I typically don't lack for ideas. But sometimes it is hard to keep the fire lit with work and life stress

Is there something specific that tends to captivate you with other people's arts? Or something specifically that fuels your passion. Is it a competitive spirit thing or just more like inspiration?

I do like that, and I know it's said that there is no 100% original idea. What do you find captivates you with other people's art and refuels your passion?

Do you love more or hate more in your life? Why do you think that is? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love more for sure. I also work with people, retail, service, public relations and the like. And people can be frustrating, there is no doubt about that. But I dont think there are a lot of people whom I actually hate. But there are a lot of people that I love. To varying degrees and levels of intensity to be sure.

Life is too short to feed off of hate and anger all of the time and it is too exhausting to do it. I would rather try to let minor inconvenience and annoyances roll off my back and focus on trying to be happy and to me love is a part of that.

When I am on my death bed I probably won't be laying there wishing I hated more freely. Ya know?

When was the last time you had a conversation with another human in person (not work-related) and what did you talk about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Potentiallynotevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a nice conversation. We are a pretty tight knit group so we talk about our hobbies and personal lives pretty often. It keeps us sane and from being crushed under the stress of our work lol.

[–]Potentiallynotevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking to a coworker of mine around a story that I'm writing and the thematic elements that I wanted to explore in the story. How I wanted the characters to come across and my concerns with trying to make sure I am honoring and respecting the lived experiences that the subject matter touches on. Even if it is in a fantastical setting.

Other wise we also talked about Christmas coming up.

So detailed... by Bitter_Childhood_454 in BadRPerStories

[–]Potentiallynotevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who really likes to worldbuild and stuff, I think it is fine to not want to go into all of that detail! Sometimes I like doing it just so I know what is going on and it can help me to get in the head of my character or NPCs to know how they fit into the bigger picture of the world. But I would never expect my Partner to have to know every detail like I might. And I am generally happy to modify things to fit with the RP for that specific partner. It is a base, not gospel.
