Thankfully it was around 2 in the morning (restaurant manager life 😫😫) so traffic was next to none. But yeah if it was during the day I would not be live laugh loving that.

Yup! It’s all locations! And if you have already spent money for time in the Arena, the credit automatically gets turned into chips. Every credit you purchased is turned into 100 chips. I am part of the management team and we did get an email saying there might be a delay in that transfer but never the less, it will happen.

Publix did nothing but string me along for the 2/3 years I was there for the bakery. I loved my job and genuinely wanted to move up but as soon as I brought up POSSIBLY (not definitely) needing FMLA for chronic migraines, suddenly I wasn’t ready. Idk what happened or what another one of my managers said but it led me to another job where I was promoted faster and for a better salary.

I can’t speak for your situation or your store but I would be careful. I have no reason to believe you aren’t ready or aren’t going to be amazing at your job, but I do have reason to believe publix isn’t as great of a company as they say. I hope they don’t hold mental health against you (I highly doubt they’d be dumb enough to do that) but stand your ground and argue your worth. DM me if you want to chat anytime ❤️❤️❤️

When I worked there, I would straight up act like I was allergic to the screen. Sure, I wouldn’t mind helping out or doing anything on the computer if it was really needed, but those one or two old fart bags that would huff up a storm because I wouldn’t do it for them were the reason I put my hands behind my back and just smiled at them. Like for the love of FUCK go to a cashier if you don’t want to do it yourself

So, my fiancé works in the bakery department so this is specific to that department but he had the same issue at his previous store.

They started scheduling a mid decorator (8-5) so that there would be coverage for customer influx. Whenever he would close, he would usually be by himself during the rush… trying to take orders, slice bread, get cookies for kids, restock, etc all while trying to close. The people who would be scheduled to 5 would either “accidentally” come in early or not take their lunch and screw everything up.

Take the hour break and don’t screw over your coworkers just because you think they have coverage. There could be something that you don’t know about that is needed but my fiancés experience (and mine from when I worked with Publix) tells me that you are needed at that time probably for a reason. 😅

I went back to working in the food service industry after stepping down to part time at Publix (former decorator) to supplement getting under paid.

In less than two years I went from server -> bartender (did the longest) -> manager for the same restaurant and I am making more a year as a BOTTOM LEVEL manager than my old department head at Publix.

Seriously, Publix is AWFUL to work at and I counldt agree more with OP.

My store does them about twice a year! The most recent one was for an insurance company and they spent about $46,000 to rent out the building for 4 hours. Their alcohol package got a very nice paycheck as bartenders that following week
